Job description

Basic Purpose of Role/Why the Job Exists: 

  • The Planning Manager maintains optimised stock levels for multiple business units / product categories / of implants, consumables and other goods across Stryker South Pacific’s (ANZ) distribution network.   

  • The role is responsible for the balance of service, asset management of inventory and instrument kits, and minimising costs associated to local freight and due to excess inventory provisions. 

  • The Planning Manager establishes, monitors, and maintains data parameters in the ERP system related to inventory management across the network and builds close relationships with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and other Operations groups.    

Key Areas of Accountability: 

  • Managing the overall inventory across SSP to ensure minimal excess inventory whilst ensuring high levels of service performance to service KPI for Stryker South Pacific and minimizing DII. This includes ensuring the team plan purchases strategically and create an inventory plan to achieve full year KPI targets.  

  • Oversight of team planning and procurement of finished goods from global manufacturers in the ERP system. This includes running DRP and addressing changes to purchase orders including but not limited to changes in: price, date, quantity. This also includes maintaining ETAs. 

  • Ensure that the team proactively communicate supply issues to Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Strategic Accounts and providing estimated dates of arrival, explanation of issue, and collaborating with the Marketing department for substitute products (if applicable). Also act as an escalation point for any issues. 

  • Partner with the Logistics Manager on logistics efficiency projects. Also monitor inbound freight, ensuring the team only expedite when absolutely necessary. 

  • Management of planning parameters for their portfolios including, but not limited to, ABC classification, setting optimal safety stock levels, minimum order quantity, lead time, and product launch/obsolescence. 

  • Partner with Demand Manager to increase the accuracy of the net requirements plan avoiding purchasing unnecessary inventory and incurring excess freight. 

Standard operational responsibilities: 

  • Maintaining and updating documented procedures. 

  • Drive lean initiatives and continuous improvements within the Operations department.   

  • Complying with all team activities with company, legal, ethical and other standards. 

  • Completing other project and tasks as required.   

Ensure the success and development of individual team members: 

  • Develop and review Performance Reviews and KPIs 

  • Develop training requirements and drive delivery 

  • Develop individual team member development plans and support achievement 

  • Drive achievement of bonus objectives 

  • Develop succession plans for each role 

Direct Reports (if any): 

  • 4 direct reports 

  • Supply Planner x 3 

  • Supply Chain Coordinator x 1

Critical Requirements (e.g. skills, experience, qualifications): 

Skills:  

  • Ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders 

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access Database, Powerpoint  

  • Outstanding organisational skills and good attention to detail 

  • Ability to work closely with key internal and external clients  to identify needs and provide updated information 

  • Strong communication, analytical and negotiation skills. 

Experience: 

  • Experience managing a team of professionals and operating effectively as part of a team with accountability for business results 

  • Minimum four years previous experience in a procurement and/or planning role.   

  • Previous experience using an ERP system. 

Desirable Requirements (e.g. skills, experience, qualifications): 

  • Tertiary qualification within Business Administration, Business Management or a related field.   

  • Experience in change management 

  • APICS or related course certification(s).     

  • Work experience in medical device industry. 

  • Understanding of Quality Management Systems.   

  • Familiarity with Lean concepts or Lean certification(s).   

  • Familiarity with ISO9001 and ISO13485.   

Other requirements (e.g. travel, on-call responsibilities): 

  • Limited travel in Aus/NZ (approx 5% of time max) 

Salary: $100,000 - $130,000
