Job description

What you will do as a Sterilization Sciences Intern

You will be supporting both Sustaining and New Product Development projects. Our team works within the Design Assurance Engineering function, but also has significant interaction with PD, Regulatory, Quality Systems and Operations. This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to gain an introduction to sterility, biocompatibility and chemistry at a medical device company.

  • You will support the currently marketed and new product by creating material master files for Stryker instrument trays.
  • You will focus on not only the materials of the trays, but also tray layout and gain exposure to some instruments.
  • You will work cross functionally to drive our company’s mission and strengthen the Stryker brand.
  • You should love solving complex problems in a fast paced and stimulating environment.
  • You will identify testing requirements for trays and will be involved in performing the chemistry tests as required.
  • You will learn to understand raw testing data and compile results into technical documentation. Developing your understanding of ISO 10993 requirements for non-patient contacting/indirect contacting devices.
  • You will have the opportunity to create a steam sterilization master product inventory for instrument trays and product adoptions.
  • You will develop you understanding of ISO 17665-3.

What You Need​​

  • Currently working on completion of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in related field or equivalent; we will only consider students who plan to be enrolled in a degree-seeking program after the summer.

  • Cumulative 3.0 GPA or above; must be the case at the date of hire and will be verified during background check in the spring

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and not require employment-based sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and proven leadership and business acumen skills.

  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.

  • Proficient on basic computer programs: Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

$19 min hourly wage – $33 max hourly wage and either paid corporate housing or a living stipend, dependent upon hiring location.
