Job description
Join a high-impact engineering function focused on tooling development, mold performance, and injection molding processes within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role supports the full lifecycle of tooling programs—from design and validation to maintenance and continuous improvement—while ensuring alignment with quality and regulatory standards.
What you will do
Manage tooling programs and projects from design through validation and release, ensuring adherence to timelines, cost targets, and quality standards
Conduct mold design reviews, evaluating performance metrics, technical risks, and design feasibility
Select and coordinate with mold builders and external vendors; request quotations and oversee deliverables
Analyze plastic part quality issues, identify mold-related root causes, and implement corrective actions to reduce defects
Develop and maintain mold history files, drawings records, and documentation for traceability and compliance
Execute incoming and outgoing mold inspections and publish detailed technical reports
Audit supplier and in-house mold records and spare part inventories; implement corrective actions to address gaps
Review and improve preventive maintenance programs for molds to increase uptime and extend tool life
What you will need
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or minimum 5 years of experience in mold making or injection molding management/processing)
Minimum 6 years of experience in technical roles
Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., medical devices or similar)
Proficiency in CAD tools and advanced PC applications
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
Fluency in Spanish and English
Preferred
Experience designing or specifying inspection fixtures or testing equipment
Knowledge of polymers, thermoplastics, metallurgy, and heat transfer principles
Additional information
Travel: May be required for supplier visits or tooling validation activities
Physical requirements: Ability to handle small components, use measuring equipment, and perform inspections on the production floor (including walking, bending, and standing for extended periods)
United States of America Pay Ranges:
- Puerto Rico: $77,700 - $129,500 USD Annual
