Join Stryker's Surgical Technologies R&D team as a Staff Mechanical Engineer and help develop the next generation of surgical fluid and smoke management systems. As a senior technical contributor within New Product Development, you will work across the entire product lifecycle, from concept through launch, partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative, safe, and compliant medical device solutions. This role is ideal for an engineer with a strong mechanical design background, systems-level thinking, and expertise in complex problem solving who is passionate about driving technical innovation, influencing product direction, and mentoring fellow engineers.
This is a hybrid role based role in Portage, MI.

What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision.
- Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions.
- Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performance.
- Identify and resolve complex design issues using data-driven analysis to improve processes and outcomes.
- Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessions.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch.
What You Will Need
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Minimum four years of relevant engineering experience.
- Experience designing mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies.
- Proficiency in creating engineering drawings and models using GD&T and CAD tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAD tools, preferably Creo.
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with risk management and quality systems in a regulated environment.
- Experience with fluid dynamics, air filtration, fabrication and plastics.
United States of America Pay Ranges:
- USN: $89,300 - $148,800 USD Annual
