Job description
What you will do
- you will lead design control activities, materials engineering and risk management processes throughout the product life cycle and will have significant interaction with PD, Regulatory and Operations.
- You will support the currently marketed product by analyzing materials and manufacturing processes and make recommendations for improvement; internal specification reviews and updates to align with the latest industry standards.
- You will contribute to large scale continuous improvement and cost savings projects tied to multiple product lines in Stryker's portfolio.
- You will focus on not only design improvements from the materials perspective, but also material processing changes (i.e. heat treatment, passivation, welding, etc.)
- You will work cross functionally to drive our company’s mission and strengthen the Stryker brand.
- You should love solving complex problems in a fast paced and stimulating environment.
- You will lead and participate in design changes by identifying new material selections and design requirements such as weld callouts and heat treatment requirements.
- You will work closely with operations and suppliers to assess process changes that could impact material properties and ultimately potentially impact product design.
- You will be an Influential partner to R&D driving safety and performance in products.
What you will need
Required-
- Bachelor’s/Masters/PHD in Metallurgical or Materials Science; Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- experience- 7 years -10 years
- 7+ years’ experience in materials development, testing and analysis ideally in a strongly regulated environment such as medical device, military, automotive or aerospace industry
Preferred-
- Good communication skills
- Experience in material processing such as heat treatment, welding, casting, forging, and passivation highly preferred;
- Extensive experience in risk management activities by developing risk management plans and reports, conducting risk reviews, verifying implementation and effectiveness of risk controls highly preferred
- Extensive knowledge of 21CFR820, ISO 13485, ISO 14971 related to design and development process.
