Job description

This position will, in collaboration with stakeholders, define, design, and drive the implementation of future state data and information architecture to support the Clinical and Medical Affairs organization and technology strategy in order to drive innovation, automation and promote data transparency within the organization. The position will use various methods to transform raw data into useful data systems and analytics including functional implementation, analysis, testing and documentation, assisting with the development of long-range and short-range plans for the systems, and coordinating the functional operation of new and existing systems.

What You will do:

  • Ownership and co-ordination of the development of systems plans. Establish objectives, priorities, time allocations and deadlines ensuring stakeholder alignment.  Execute on plans and provide regular status reports to keep management informed of progress and project issues.
  • Participate in long-term application technology planning processes across Clinical and Medical affairs.
  • Plan, lead, coordinate, and execute by collaboration with IT teams/management along with internal and external operational partners, wider business and clinical & medical affairs, as well as external entities as necessary to lead projects through the appropriate phases of implementation.
  • Lead in the analysis, development, testing, documentation and maintenance of in-house medical affairs systems to enhance or customize the benefit received from vendor-supplied products.
  • Collaborate with other system owners (e.g. clinical data management) to develop and implement data pipelines, that serve business requirements.
  • Develop, takes ownership and maintains scalable data pipelines and builds out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
  • Collaborates with wider business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increasing data accessibility and fostering data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • Implements processes and systems to monitor data quality, ensuring production data is always accurate and available for key stakeholders and business processes that depend on it.

What You Need:

Must have:

  • Minimum 7+ years relevant experience required; experience in a BI, IT or business-side analytics or engineering role for a contract research organization, the medical device or pharmaceutical industry, or similar relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in operation of computer systems and a proven track record experience in delivery of Clinical IT system projects (e.g. DistillerSR) would be preferred.
  • Extensive experience building and developing PowerBI dashboards and reporting is required. Experience with the wider MS Power platform (PowerApps, PowerAutomate etc.) is required.Microsoft (Google, Amazon, IBM) certifications would be advantageous.
  • Data modeling and fundamental core relational and foundational database concepts are required. Practical working experience of Azure environments is essential, as is experience connecting data models to a variety of external technical sources of information via Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).

Good to have:

  • Experience with various tools and data sources such as SharePoint, Oracle DB, SAP DB, SQL Server, DB2 preferred.
  • Proven ability to build and optimize data sets, data pipelines and architectures. Ability to build processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata.
  • Experience with Agile Software Development methodologies. Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work well independently as well as with colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision and adapt to changes in responsibilities and workloads.. Understanding of clinical process and required metrics need
  • Demonstrated project management skills: stakeholder management, planning, executing, tracking progress, aligning strategy and results to business needs and outcomes
  • Must possess a high degree of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality with HIPAA and GDPR guidelines, and other confidential information.
