Job description
Stryker is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Engineer to lead and manage complex database systems in on-premise and cloud environments. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in SQL, NoSQL, and cloud database technologies, combined with a track record of successful implementations, migrations, and high-performance database operations. This role demands technical leadership, strategic thinking, and hands-on involvement in architecture, solution design, and operational excellence.
What You Will Do
Design and implement scalable, high-performance database systems for mission critical healthcare applications using relational and no relational database platforms. (SQL Server, Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB).
Architect database solutions for containerized, multi-tenant applications across on-premise and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
Develop and execute data migration strategies, including on-premise to cloud and data center to co-location migrations.
Manage and optimize large-scale SQL or NoSQL databases to ensure high availability, disaster recovery (HA-DR), and performance.
Implement advanced replication strategies (e.g., transactional, merge, distributed availability groups) and backup/recovery solutions.
Proactively monitor and troubleshoot performance issues using native and third-party tools.
Drive routine maintenance tasks, including patching, compaction, and index optimization.
Lead database lifecycle management, including version upgrades, capacity planning, and vulnerability remediation.
What You Need (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering/ Computer Science or related discipline & 4+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Database Administration Experience on RDS SQL Server and PostGreSQL.
Strong Knowledge of Databases on AWS Cloud.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA-DR.)
Performance Troubleshooting & Optimization.
Architecture Design & Solution Delivery.

$100,500 - $215,300 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
