Job description
Stryker is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer to join our Peripheral Vascular (PV) team. In this role, you will serve as a Technical Lead, driving engineering initiatives across manufacturing. This is an onsite position in Irvine, CA.
What you will do-
- Design and develop manufacturing equipment in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations, including automated and semi-automated machine concepts, cross-functional technical design reviews, proof-of-concept activities, and ROI/financial analysis to support projects.
- Design, assemble, test, validate, qualify, and verify electromechanical systems, tooling, fixtures, equipment, manufacturing processes, and product lines to support the production of cardiovascular catheters and other medical devices.
- Lead complex manufacturing process design, improvement, and optimization initiatives to ensure the safety, efficacy, quality, and reliability of existing and newly introduced products through technology development, process studies, Six Sigma projects, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Identify and address production bottlenecks through improved tooling and fixture designs; revise tooling drawings and manufacturing procedures while validating, qualifying, and implementing process improvements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to manufacturing processes, product quality, cost, safety, process performance, and complex production equipment, including preventive maintenance improvements and equipment reliability initiatives.
- Provide hands-on support for equipment repair and troubleshooting while training, mentoring, and guiding engineers, technicians, and operators in equipment use, care, preventive maintenance, and operational best practices.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional project teams, manage timelines, define goals, evaluate engineering tests and experiments, and drive successful project execution.
What you need-
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related technical field
- 6+ years of relevant experience
- Ability to design complex assembly equipment for use inside and outside of the cleanroom
- Ability to conduct complex statistical, geometric, and mathematical calculations
- Proficient in reading, understanding, and creating engineering drawings on common engineering software
- Ability to mentor Engineers and other technical staff
- Proficient in use of Minitab or similar statistical software
