Join Stryker’s CMF Business as a Senior Mechanical Engineer
At Stryker, we’re committed to making healthcare better. Our Craniomaxillofacial (CMF) business unit within the Instruments division develops innovative technologies that restore form, function, and hope to patients around the world. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to help design, develop, test, and commercialize advanced mechanical and electromechanical systems that make a direct impact on patients and clinicians.
In this role, you will apply strong engineering fundamentals—including CAD modeling, engineering mechanics, materials and stress analysis, GD&T, and manufacturing methods—while working closely with Technical and Mechanical
leads to deliver safe, reliable, and high-performing medical devices. You’ll collaborate frequently with cross-functional teams across R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, and Regulatory at multiple Stryker sites, contributing throughout the product development lifecycle.
Hybrid Work Expectation
This is a hybrid position, requiring at least three days per week onsite at Stryker’s Mahwah, NJ office to support effective collaboration and hands-on engineering work.
If you’re driven by meaningful innovation and want your work to directly improve patient care, we’d love to hear from you.

What You Will Do
- Design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical components and subsystems for medical and electromechanical devices, translating design inputs into engineering specifications and meeting time, regulatory, and cost requirements.
- Create and evaluate engineering solutions through analysis, prototyping, and proof-of-concept work, applying core and advanced problem-solving principles to optimize designs.
- Demonstrates strong understanding of customer needs, design inputs, product use, and clinical procedures; delivers high-quality results with energy and alignment to business priorities.
- Ensures full medical-device compliance by following industry standards, regulatory design requirements, design controls, and risk-management practices; independently authors and refines engineering documentation (e.g., DHF) and applies clinical knowledge to create accurate design inputs.
- Strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, regulated design practices, CAD/CAE tools (e.g., Creo), analysis methods, and the ability to read and interpret complex drawings.
- Proficient in materials science and manufacturing processes, including design for manufacture (e.g., injection molding)—and skilled at applying these to effective, high-quality product design.
- Collaborates effectively across R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, Project Management, vendors, and customers—building strong relationships to support development, validate requirements, and achieve project and business objectives.
