Responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, and execution of the end-to-end EHS process and partnership with facilities , including the creation of strategic EHS plans. Oversees the operations and maintenance of Stryker’s facility at Salt Lake City, Utah. This includes strategic EHS planning and day-to-day management for base business and also new product introductions.

This role will have responsibility for mitigating risk in all areas across the business and the individual will need to demonstrate that they have a strong EHS and Compliance background with a proven ability to mitigate risk.  This is a pro-active and visible role requiring excellent internal and external customer relationship, commercial, supplier management and people skills, with the ability to influence, train and support staff, at all levels within the organization. Responsible for ensuring the business meets the necessary legislative obligations and drive the continuous improvement of Health, Safety and related Environmental Management in the organization.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provides EHS expertise and leadership to the Stryker SLC facility.
  • Provide direction, training, and development of the EHS team.
  • Interface with local, state, and federal EHS regulatory agencies (e.g. EPA, OSHA, etc.) to maintain compliance with all applicable regulations.
  • Develop, gather, and trend facility EHS statistics to judge progress against industry standards as well as previous year performance.
  • Maintain proficiency in local, state, and federal EHS regulations to ensure program compliance.
  • Complete and submit facility sustainability and environmental compliance related data.
  • Maintain relevant EHS compliance records, data, and metrics.
  • Conduct routine EHS inspections and audits to monitor effectiveness of the EHS management system.
  • Preparation of EHS reports/metrics for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the facility Emergency Action Plan to ensure procedures, resources and training are in place to effectively manage potential emergency scenarios.
  • Work within the establishment and maintenance of work safety standards and proactive safety programs to maintain safe working conditions.
  • Lead EHS-related incident investigations as required.
  • Assess the EHS impact of proposed changes to plant, process, equipment etc. and identify actions to ensure compliance and risk control (Management of Change).
  • Establish and maintain effective risk assessment and risk reduction programs.
  • Lead local or US projects as required and support cross functional teams..
  • Promote and support a culture of accountability and collaboration in relation to safety and environmental performance and expectations
  • Support site EHS Committee towards meeting local and global EHS objectives.
  • Oversee the establishment and maintenance of Security in accordance with the corporate standards.
  • EHS Related contractors managements
  • EHS budget planning and execution.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in EHS or Business Management.
  • 10+ years related experience including in senior management of EHS.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s Degree, preferred in Engineering or Business management.
  • Certifications are a plus: Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
