This position is on site with a preferred location of San Jose, CA or alternatively Flower Mound, TX

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Test Engineer to support the development, verification, and ongoing improvement of complex electromechanical medical devices. In this hands-on engineering role, you will focus on electrical testing, hardware troubleshooting, and system-level verification of products incorporating sensors, motors, actuators, microcontrollers, and electronic control systems.

You will work closely with electrical, mechanical, software, and systems engineers to evaluate product performance, investigate failures, and identify opportunities to improve product reliability. This position offers the opportunity to support both established and recently launched products within our Surgical Support portfolio, as well as contribute to laboratory testing and automation initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings strong electrical engineering fundamentals, a practical approach to troubleshooting, and the ability to independently execute engineering assignments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

What You Will Do

  • Develop, execute, and document electrical and system-level verification tests for complex electromechanical medical devices, including normal operating conditions, boundary conditions, and fault scenarios.
  • Perform hands-on electrical testing and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, and other laboratory equipment to evaluate circuit and system behavior.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, PCB layouts, and technical documentation to understand hardware functionality, identify potential issues, and support testing activities.
  • Investigate electrical and electromechanical system failures, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with design engineers to identify and implement solutions.
  • Develop and improve test methods, procedures, fixtures, and laboratory setups to support product verification and development activities.
  • Support testing of embedded hardware and electronic control systems involving microcontrollers, sensors, motors, actuators, power electronics, and related components.
  • Collaborate with electrical, software, mechanical, systems, and quality engineering teams to support design verification, product improvements, and resolution of technical issues.
  • Contribute to laboratory test automation and equipment improvements, including opportunities to automate testing of capital equipment and electromechanical systems.
  • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including test protocols, results, technical reports, and verification records in accordance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Independently manage assigned engineering deliverables, communicate technical findings, and contribute to problem-solving across teams and geographic locations.
  • Participate in technical reviews and support engineering design activities as needed.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or other related engineering discipline is required.
  • 2 or more years of experience is required. Experience working with products within regulated or safety-critical industries highly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with electrical testing, hardware troubleshooting, and verification of electronic or electromechanical systems.
  • Experience reading electrical schematics and using laboratory test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Familiarity with embedded hardware, microcontrollers, sensors, motors, or electronic control systems.
  • Experience developing or executing engineering test procedures, test fixtures, or verification protocols.
  • Basic programming or scripting knowledge, or exposure to laboratory test automation.
  • Demonstrated experience owning engineering deliverables, independently solving technical problems, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

  • Flower Mound, TX: $85,500 - $142,500 USD Annual
  • San Jose, CA: $101,000 - $168,400 USD Annual
