It's Time to Join Stryker!
Why Join Stryker?
Join Stryker's Mako Robotics team and help shape the future of robotic-assisted surgery!
As an Electrical Engineer, you will take ownership of electrical designs supporting Mako's robotic end effectors, contributing to the development, integration, testing, and improvement of sophisticated medical technology.
This is a hands-on opportunity to work across the electrical engineering lifecycle, from circuit design and hardware development to troubleshooting and system integration.
Working alongside a talented multidisciplinary engineering team, you will help develop reliable, innovative solutions that support surgical precision and improve patient outcomes.
If you enjoy building things, solving challenging technical problems, and seeing your designs come to life in real-world applications, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
What You Will Do
- Design, develop, and support electrical components and subsystems for Mako robotic end effectors, taking ownership of assigned electrical designs throughout the development lifecycle.
- Translate product requirements into electrical engineering specifications, circuit designs, and technical solutions.
- Perform schematic design, PCB development, component selection, and electrical hardware integration activities.
- Build and evaluate prototypes, conduct bench testing, and validate electrical functionality and performance.
- Troubleshoot electrical hardware and system-level issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
- Integrate electrical hardware with mechanical, software, and other system components to support reliable robotic system performance.
- Evaluate existing designs, identify opportunities for improvement, and support ongoing product development and engineering changes.
- Conduct electrical testing, verification activities, and technical investigations to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and quality requirements.
- Develop and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics, design specifications, test procedures, technical reports, and design history records.
- Collaborate with Systems, Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, and other cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and support successful product development.
- Apply engineering best practices, design controls, and risk management principles in accordance with applicable medical device regulations and quality system requirements.
What You Need
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
- 2 or more years of professional engineering experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications (You do not need to have all of these)
- Experience designing, developing, building, testing, and troubleshooting electrical hardware or subsystems.
- Experience with electrical schematic design, PCB development, and component selection.
- Proficiency with electrical design tools, with experience using Altium Designer preferred.
- Hands-on experience with electrical prototyping, bench testing, and laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies.
- Experience troubleshooting electrical circuits and resolving hardware integration or system-level issues.
- Understanding of electrical system integration and interactions between hardware, software, and mechanical components.
- Experience translating engineering requirements into electrical designs, test plans, and verification activities.
- Familiarity with electrical manufacturing processes, design for manufacturability, and hardware reliability considerations.
- Experience supporting electromechanical systems, robotics, or other complex integrated products.
- Experience working in a regulated industry, particularly medical devices, including familiarity with design controls, risk management, and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on, collaborative approach to engineering challenges.
- Ability to independently manage technical assignments, communicate findings, and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- $89,300 - $148,800 USD Annual
