Job description

As the Project Manager, you will lead a cross-functional project team in the planning, coordinating, monitoring and execution of new product development medical device projects that help neurosurgeons achieve better patient outcomes and improve lives. In your role, you will ensure R&D projects are completed on time/cost & budget.  You will support cutting edge medical device products from the inception phase to launch within Stryker Instruments.

You will need to live within commuting distance to our Portage, Michigan office. You will need to be in the office a minimum of 3 days a week and can work from home on other days.

What you will do

  • Lead the team in creating the project charter and project management plan, setting a clear vision, directing the execution, and evaluating tradeoffs as needed.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope. Document and manage changes to the project scope, ensuring strategic alignment.

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive project schedule and assume ownership. Manage the critical path, major workstreams, and intersecting milestones in the schedule.

  • Partner with cross-functional managers to define the project budget and ensure costs are monitored and maintained within agreed limits.

  • Develop a risk management plan for the project. Create and maintain the risk register, identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks.

  • Develop a Stakeholder management plan for the project, based on the identification, analysis and understanding of stakeholder expectations.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communications management plan, serving as the central point of contact to ensure transparency and alignment among all stakeholders.

What you need

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering or related discipline

  • Minimum 4 years of work experience within engineering or related technical experience including 1 year of new product development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct or indirect leadership experience
