Job description

Purpose of Job 

The Project, R&D Engineering, performs implant, instrument and manufacturing equipment design work, maintaining products throughout the entire lifecycle. Actively participates on, multifunctional teams to advance assigned projects through the design/development and change process. 

Usually works with some supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity. 

Key responsibilities 

  • Model and detail implant and instrumentation designs utilizing CAD software and Windchill PLM software. 

  • Apply standards and GD&T to create, modify and check technical documentation (e.g. 2D drawings) 

  • Create and maintain fixtures and inspection equipment. 

  • Develop and manage project plans and timelines within the scope of the Design and Change Control guidelines. 

  • Write technical reports and perform standard assessments. 

  • Optimize and automate processes. 

  • Utilize and manage the design change process by: 

  • Coordinating R&D activities pertaining to change requests 

  • Gathering information pertinent to the assigned product change 

  • Undertaking Technical Reports & Assessments 

  • Updating existing DHF documentation as result of change requests. 

  • Actively participate in cross functional teams for tasks and projects.  

Competences 

  • ECR/ECN owner 

  • CAII in onePLM 

  • Quality Divisional role for drawing approvals in onePLM 

  • Standards Assessments 

Education/Training 
Languages 
Computer literacy 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related. 

Experience 
Special knowledge 

  • 1-2 years of product design experience in the medical device industry or equivalent are preferred 

  • Familiarity of design controls within a regulated industry. 

  • Demonstrated experience with a parametric CAD package. 

  • Technical depth. 

Personal attributes 

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve work objectives both independently and as a leader/member of a work team. 

  • Ability to make decisions as needed.
