Interview process: What to expect

Once you have identified the position(s) on our career site that you are interested in applying for, you will need to click on the “Apply Now” button. You will then have the option to join our Talent Network which will allow you to sign up for customized job alerts and receive occasional newsletters. Once you complete this step, you will then be brought to the application. You are not required to join our Talent Network and may opt-out at any time by following the link at the bottom of the automated emails/job alerts.

Depending on whether you upload an existing resume or are completing the fields as you go, the process can take between 3-25 minutes, and you will receive a confirmation email when the application process has been successfully completed.

A recruiter will review your application and contact you via email should your skills be a match for the role you applied for. Depending on the volume of applicants we receive for a role, it may take several weeks for our teams to review resumes. In general, we do our best to respond within two weeks of your application. On occasion, our response emails can be caught in spam filters. Please be sure to check your spam folder periodically to be sure you have not missed an email.

Once the recruiter has reviewed your application, and if they believe you are a fit for the role, they will contact you via email to set up a time for a phone interview. This initial phone interview is an opportunity for the recruiter to hear more about your background and skills to see if there is a fit. It is also your chance to learn more about the role and decide whether you see this as the right career move. It’s just as important to us that you feel like this is a great fit! This call generally lasts 30-60 minutes.

Once the initial phone interview is complete, and if you and the recruiter believe the role is a fit with your background and experience, a phone interview with the hiring manager will be scheduled.

The hiring manager phone interview will be focused on your technical skills related to the job and understanding how you like to work, what kind of teams you like to be on, etc. It’s a great opportunity for you to get to know your potential manager and ask questions about them, their team and the role. This call generally takes between 30-60 minutes and may be over the phone or a video call.

Your next step will be either a phone interview, or online self-guided assessment but this time with The Gallup Organization. They have developed several interviews that focus on understanding your unique talents and strengths. The interview is conducted over the phone with a trained analyst, or on-line (depending on the role you have applied for) and you will be asked strengths-themed questions. This interview can last between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours.

After the Gallup interview, your recruiter and the hiring manager will review your resume, their notes from the phone conversations, and the Gallup feedback to decide on the next steps. You should also be deciding during this time whether this role is the right career move and if Stryker is the right “home” for you.

If you’ve decided you’d like to move forward, and the hiring team feels the same way, your recruiter will schedule a series of virtual or on-site interviews with the appropriate team members. If any of your interviews are on-site, your recruiter will introduce you to a member of our Candidate Care team who will assist you with scheduling travel (if needed), answering any questions you may have, greeting you upon your arrival, and handling any expenses.

Following your interviews, our team will connect to make a final decision. Your recruiter will remain in contact during this time and let you know once a decision is made. You will receive a phone call from the recruiter to discuss the feedback and decision.

We strive to have decisions made within a week of interviews but there are times it may take longer depending on the number of candidates interviewing and the availability of the hiring team. Should you have any questions during this time, please contact your recruiter.

*Note: Depending on the number of people you will be interviewing with, their schedules/locations, and your schedule, this process may take a few weeks to organize.

Once the decision is final, your recruiter will contact you immediately and provide you with a verbal offer. From there, they will send you a formal offer letter which we ask that you review and sign by the date outlined in the offer. When your recruiter receives your signed offer letter, this may begin any local background processes e.g. medical. You will receive instructions on the completion of this step via email.

Congratulations! If you have received and accepted an offer from Stryker, you will work with your recruiter and/or HR business partner to determine a start date and next steps for orientation!

No. Your salary in Stryker would be based on the following parameters

  • Your overall relevant experience (excluding career breaks)
  • Role fitment
  • Internal Parity

Normally a position is posted with a clear designation – which reflects the roles and responsibilities that the individual would be expected to perform. In a few cases the designation can be revised up or down to ensure parity within the organization from an overall work experience perspective.

Stryker India is operating under a Hybrid model – broadly defined as 50% in office, 50% work from home (virtual). However there could be position specific nuances – example : positions in our R&D operations team would typically be marked as 100% in office due to the nature of work.

The decision is role dependent and not individual dependent. Role specific nuances are taken into consideration to make a call on the working style. However – support (or enhanced flexibility) to overcome or tied over any personal commitments can be discussed with your supervisor.

Location is again role dependent.
