Stryker is seeking to hire a Mechanical Engineer, R&D to support Stryker’s Emergency Care Division. This role is focused on sustaining engineering. This is a hybrid role, working 4 days per week in the office and you will be located Portage, MI.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
As the Mechanical Engineer, you will work with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success. With supervision you will develop, modify, evaluate and verify mechanical components for medical devices. This is a unique opportunity to learn all areas of Stryker and to work with a variety of products. The project timeline is fast paced and this person will work to solve problems and lead to create solutions.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Under supervision, design, develop, modify, and verify mechanical components for medical devices.
- Assist with prototyping and bench testing.
- Support problem solving, root cause analysis, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements.
Engineering Competencies:
- Fundamental knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering practices and tools, design principles within a regulated environment.
- Basic knowledge of design and concept generation CAD (Pro-E) or CAE modeling tools
- Basic knowledge of analysis tools and statistical methods.
- Basic knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods.
- Ability to read and Interpret complex drawings.
Med Device Compliance:
- Understand fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which align with regulatory requirements.
- With supervision, create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file per company design control procedures.
- Learn R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Required
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, (Mechanical Engineering Preferred)
Preferred:
- Prior internship experience (experience with customer service or process engineering preferred).
- Fundamental knowledge and understanding of mechanical engineering practices and design principles.
- Basic knowledge of design and concept generation utilizing CAD (Pro-E) and CAE tools.
- Basic knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good problem solving and trouble shooting skills.
- A good analytic and mathematics understanding.
- Excels at problem solving (Ability to work through each problem, use case, etc., and find the root cause, then provide potential solutions; methodical).
