Job description
What you will do:
- Design and develop fixtures, gauges, and mechanical components, including sub‑assemblies and assemblies, ensuring compliance with MBD and QIF standards while meeting functional, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
- Create, update, and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and MBD datasets using tools such as CATIA, SolidWorks, Creo, or NX.
- Apply Model‑Based Definition (MBD) practices, including semantic PMI, GD&T, and annotations directly within 3D models.
- Develop and manage QIF (Quality Information Framework) models to enable seamless downstream inspection, metrology, and digital quality workflows.
- Ensure accurate translation of design intent from CAD/MBD models to manufacturing and inspection systems.
- Apply GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5) to produce functionally robust, inspection‑ready designs.
- Participate in DFMEA & PFMEA and drive Design for DFXX (DFM, DFI, DFA) to ensure robust, manufacturable, and inspection-ready designs.
- Support NPI and sustaining projects by managing design changes, optimization initiatives, and manufacturability improvements.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Metrology, and Digital teams to align design, inspection, and production requirements.
- Support prototype builds, design verification, and validation testing activities.
- Prepare and maintain design documentation, including BOMs and ECR/ECN records, and release digital models through PLM systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on digital design enablement and overall process efficiency.
What you will need:
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modelling and engineering drawings.
- Hands-on / Basic experience with MBD (Model-Based Definition) concepts and workflows.
- Hands-on experience with design tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, NX, and UG.
- Working knowledge of QIF modelling to support inspection and quality integration.
- Solid understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability.
- Ability to interpret and manage digital product definitions throughout the design-to-inspection lifecycle.
- Experience supporting NPI and sustaining engineering activities.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: B.Tech / BE in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in manufacturing, MedTech, or precision engineering environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Willingness to collaborate with multiple divisions and understand their requirements.
- Open to adopting new technologies/applications in the field of Metrology.
