Materials Engineer (Stryker MFR NeuroHub)
12 Month Fixed Term
With supervision, works with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success. Provide material characterization testing, analyze data and provide reports summarizing the findings. Learn procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required.

What You Will Do:
You will work as a material consultant for product development teams that design and develop next generation technology for stroke treatment and prevention. You will provide material characterization testing, analyze data and provide reports summarizing the findings.
Technical Responsibilities:
Under minimal supervision, perform materials testing and microstructural characterization including optical microscopy, SEM/EDX, FTIR, DSC, Surface Tensiometry/Contact angle measurements, DMA, Corrosion testing
Create and improve test methods for materials characterization
Support problem solving, root cause analysis, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements
Analyze and draw conclusions from test results
Clearly summarize, communicate and properly document results and recommendations
Business Responsibilities:
Interpret customer needs and understands design inputs
Understand the product’s intended use and clinical procedures
Med Device Compliance:
Understand fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which align with regulatory requirements
With supervision, create or refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file per company design control procedures
Learn R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System
General Responsibilities:
With supervision, work with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success
Learn procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required
Work on problems in limited scope; purposefully learn while gaining experience
Demonstrate ownership and integrity of work
Build stable relationships
Contribute to the project as a team member
What You Will Have:
2+ years of work experience (Minimum)
Degree in Materials Science, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar
Technical Skills (Preferred):
Fundamental knowledge and understanding of materials (metals, polymers) and manufacturing methods
Basic knowledge of analytical techniques used for materials characterization
Hands-on experience and basic knowledge of analysis tools and statistical methods
Ability to read and Interpret complex drawings
