What you will do
Manager is expected to collaborate with divisional functional leaders to set a strategic plan for a long-term partnership for Quality functions (PMS/QMS/Design Quality) including the strategic support for product development, and sustaining engineering. This role involves leading and driving competency development while partnering with divisional stakeholders to enhance capabilities, foster synergies, and maintain consistency aligned with Stryker NV’s strategic mission. The manager is a leader who challenges the team and the status quo, enabling talent development and process improvement to enhance efficiency.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Business Planning:
Collaborate and formulate strategic plans for Quality function, and lead and drive implementation to support the overarching strategic plan.
Lead and manage complex and multi-functional projects alongside team leaders and functional stakeholders.
Develop metrics to measure the success of the team.
Prepare and deliver annual budgets (headcount, expense, and capital) for final review and approval.
Build justification and ROI to support programs, projects, and the value the team brings.
Hold the team accountable for business goals.
Technical Leadership:
Ensure consistency between SGTC and other NV sites in terms of PMS/QMS/Design Quality efforts.
Identify, strategize, and develop competencies to support the division’s vision.
Collaborate and develop plans to leverage regional technical expertise to drive functional excellence.
Provide significant guidance and approval for technical mentoring and grooming of the team to meet global functional goals.
Work with the SGTC-based team to plan and execute projects, providing leadership and direction.
Provide direction to the team in complex situations, removing obstacles, assigning resources, and interfacing with other functions to assist with issue resolution.
Work cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.
Drive and evaluate project and department progress, technical development plans, and results.
Participate in functional reviews at SGTC and Fremont.
People Management:
Recruit, select, and onboard top talent.
Develop talent within the team to increase performance, and actively address performance issues.
Lead a team of highly engaged technical professionals.
Ensure cross-training programs with global sites, providing appropriate product and technical specifications, directions, and resources.
Work with functional leaders and/or representatives to define annual/quarterly objectives for SGTC team members and monitor progress.
Define targets, KPIs, performance objectives, etc., for individuals within functional roles, and manage direct reports to meet or exceed these targets.
Foster a culture of collaboration between NV and SGTC to leverage key skill sets for effective project management and delivery aligned with divisional expectations.
Ensure close collaboration and cross-training with the global team.
Oversee career development, mentorship, and coaching within the team.
Determine project staff assignments, schedule work to meet completion dates and deliverables, and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Drive the development of department tools and methodologies.
Support continuous improvement activities.
Maintain a high level of team engagement.
Participate in advocacy activities of a technical audit/nature.
What You Need
Education/Special Training Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or applicable technical field (Mechanical, Industrial or Biomedical Engineering preferred)
Qualifications/Work Experience Required:
10 + years of medical device experience (Design Quality, Post Market Surveillance, Design & Development)
5 + years of People management / Program management experience preferred.
