Job description

Basic Function

The position will be responsible for enabling better customer service and healthy inventory through supply and inventory data analysis and reporting. In this role, the Supply & Inventory Planning Data Analyst partners closely with Supply & Inventory Planners and cross-functional teams by defining and maintaining KPIs, developing dashboards, and providing timely insights to support PSI (Purchase, Sales, and Inventory) planning and decision making. The role also supports planners to maintain accurate master data in a timely manner and drives work optimization by identifying opportunities and supporting automation initiatives.
 

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain automated dashboards and reporting for Supply & Inventory Planning (Power BI, Excel) to improve visibility and operational efficiency
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and transform data from ERP, BI data sources, and other relevant systems for ad-hoc analyses and recurring reporting
  • Develop robust data models and standard definitions (e.g., inventory status, service level, lead time) to ensure one source of truth across stakeholders
  • Partner with Supply & Inventory Planners and cross-functional teams to identify issues, quantify impacts, and recommend actions (e.g., excess mitigation, inventory optimization, parameter updates etc)
  • Monitor and improve data quality (master data and transactional data) and document reporting logic to ensure reliable planning and business decisions
  • Support Supply & Inventory Planners to maintain accurate master data in a timely manner (e.g., item/supplier parameters, lead times, MOQ etc) and establish simple validation checks
  • Drive work optimization by identifying repetitive reporting/process tasks and supporting automation initiatives using AI (Copilot) and RPA (e.g., Power Automate, UiPath) in collaboration with planners and relevant functions
     

Qualifications/Work Experience Preferred

  • BA/BS in Supply Chain, Business, Statistics, Computer Science, or similar quantitative field
  • 3+ years of experience in business intelligence/analytics, supply chain analytics, or a comparable role
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize workload
  • Demonstrated ability in writing and tuning SQL
  • Strong Power BI skills (data modeling, measures, and visualization design) and ability to build self-service dashboards for planners and business users
  • Advanced Excel skills (Power Query/Pivot preferred)
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communications skills in both Japanese and English
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle or SAP) and exposure to planning tools/data structures used in Supply Chain (POs, master data, inventory/sales transactions)
  • Experience with RPA/AI/automation tools (Power Automate, UiPath) to streamline reporting and planning-related processes is a plus
