Paid summer internships

Our paid internship programs are perfect for talented students looking to gain valuable hands-on experience. The 12-week summer internship will build more than just your resume — it will challenge your knowledge, build your network and drive your career path. Through these experiences, you’ll build a unique foundation on which to build your career, your abilities, and your dreams.

Important things to note about our summer internships:

  1. We will begin recruiting for Summer 2024 internships in September 2023.
  2. We offer internships at various Stryker locations across the United States, however, we provide housing opportunities or living stipends to help with the cost of living and encourage you to apply even if you do not live near a Stryker location.
  3. Requirements for an internship:
    • Currently working on a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and have at least one full semester of classes upon completion of the internship.
    • A minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA or above at the time of application and start date.
    • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future.

Rotational programs

If you’ve already completed your degree, we have a variety of roles for those starting their career. In addition to our full-time roles, we also offer rotational programs.

We will begin recruiting for all 2024 rotational programs in September 2023.

The FAR program is an entry-level, accelerated development program for high performing, recent graduates within the finance and accounting field. The program includes structured development through job shadows, plant visits, product showcases, formal training and volunteer opportunities. You’ll also receive certification support to obtain a CPA or CMA designation.

  • Focus area: Finance and accounting
  • Duration: 3 years (one-year rotations)

Program requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, accounting or related field
  • 3.0 GPA minimum at time of graduation
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship by Stryker now or in the future
  • Open to geographic relocation

Salt Lake Operations Acceleration Rotational (SOAR) Leadership Program

The SOAR program is designed specifically for highly talented individuals who are looking for an accelerated career progression in manufacturing operations and leadership. This program develops world-class engineers in our neurovascular product lines through challenging rotational assignments across the manufacturing site, providing high visibility, team projects, training and development, plus formal coaching and mentoring programs.

  • Focus area: Engineering
  • Duration: 2 years (3, eight-month rotations)
  • Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Program requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering discipline
  • 3.0 GPA minimum
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship by Stryker now or in the future

Stryker Cary Onboarding Rotational Experience (SCORE) Program

The Stryker Cary Onboarding Rotational Experience (SCORE) Program is designed specifically for high-performing, self starters looking to expand their skillset through full immersion within various teams of Sage’s R&D department. Individuals rotate through 3 of the following teams: New Product Development, Advanced Quality Engineering, Engineering Services, Product Engineering, and/or Advanced Operations.

  • Focus area: Engineering
  • Duration: 18 months (3, six-month rotations)
  • Location: Cary, Illinois

Program requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering discipline
  • 3.0 GPA minimum
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship by Stryker now or in the future

Advanced Operations Global Engineering Development Program (AOGEDP)

The Advanced Operations Global Engineering Development Program is designed specifically for highly talented individuals who are looking for an accelerated career progression in Advanced Operations. This program develops world-class engineers through challenging assignments, high visibility, multi-divisional team projects, integrated training and development, and formal coaching and mentoring programs.

  • Focus area: Engineering
  • Duration: 20 months

Program requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering discipline
  • 3.0 GPA minimum
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship by Stryker now or in the future
  • Ability to travel internationally

RISE Engineering Program

The Rotational Intensive Specialized Experience (RISE) Program is designed specifically for highly talented engineers who are looking for exposure to and experience in different disciplines of engineering.

  • Focus area: Engineering
  • Duration: 2 years (4, six-month rotations)
  • Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan

Program requirements:

  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in engineering discipline
  • 3.0 GPA minimum
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship by Stryker now or in the future

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

For U.S. internships, we begin the recruiting for the following summer openings in September. Recruiting is done on a rolling basis and generally lasts from September to early March depending on what roles have been filled.

You must apply for each role that you are interested in pursuing.

Our internships are filled on a rolling basis. University Recruiters communicate with candidates through our applicant tracking system so please ensure your email address is correct. There are times where emails can be sent to your junk mail, so please also be sure to monitor your junk mail account as well.

Absolutely! Depending on the role and what the hiring manager is looking for, we will consider students who bring transferrable skills to the role (leadership, class projects, etc.)

Thank you for taking the time complete your information at the event. In order to formally be considered as a candidate, you will still need to submit a formal application via our career site.

There is no right or wrong time to start applying. We typically recommend to start applying to full-time roles of interest anywhere between 2-3 months before your graduation date. Since our hiring process can include various rounds of interviews, this allows time to complete the process prior to graduation or shortly after.

Of course! Unfortunately, it would be impossible for our team to attend all the career fairs offered by schools. If we were unable to attend your school’s fair, we still want to connect with you. Be sure to complete a talent form to connect with us!

Yes! Our summer intern program curriculum incorporates various events focused on philanthropy and team building.

Our internship program curriculum is project based. Typically, an intern can be assigned anywhere from 3-5 projects that are impactful to the business and would be similar to those projects worked on by full-time Stryker employees. Whether those projects are done individually or in collaboration with other interns ultimately depends on the team’s needs.

To be minimally qualified, your cumulative GPA must be a 3.0 or above at time of application and of hire.

Most internships last approximately 12 weeks.

If we aren’t actively recruiting on your campus at this time, it may be because your campus is not included in our current campus portfolio. Every two years our University Relations team evaluates schools across the country on various factors such as the program offerings, historical hiring rates for interns and full-time roles, and their diversity and overall ranking as provided by the U.S. News.
