Job description

The Manager, Downstream Marketing is a critical role within the Stryker Sage business unit focused on Surgical Care

The leader of these critical brands and team will be responsible for over $300M in top-line revenue inclusive of double-digit growth, and also accountable to industry leading gross margin performance. 

In this role, you will shape annual marketing plans, lead product launches, develop compelling messaging and value propositions, and partner closely with sales and cross-functional teams to accelerate growth and strengthen market position. The ideal candidate is a strategic, highly collaborative marketer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, turns insights into action, and delivers results with focus, creativity, and commercial excellence.

 This position is based in Cary, IL and offers a hybrid work flexibility with occasional work from home. You will be required to travel up 30% trough out the United States

What you will do

Competitive Insights

  • Assesses market positioning and strengths/weaknesses of key competitors.
  • Shares marketing intelligence and information with the team.
  • Interprets competitive analysis and incorporates it into product or portfolio marketing strategy.
  • Anticipates future competitive dynamics and responds proactively to market shifts to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Develops processes to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of competitive analysis and market intelligence.
  • Identifies and helps execute on BD targets to drive top-line growth and competitive advantage.

Value Prop Targeting & Positioning

  • With the team, tests targeting work by assessing its usefulness in guiding execution and its impact on converting leads.
  • Develops and mentors others in creating clearly written targeting and positioning statements that align strategic priorities, execution plans, and commercial resources.
  • Prioritizes evidence (clinical, use, and economic) and other proof points (KOL, user, and patient testimonials) to demonstrate customer value arising from the value proposition.

Marketing Objective / Resource Allocation

  • Connects product, portfolio, and business goals to brand vision and strategy.
  • Guides teams in allocating and reallocating marketing resources to support brand loyalty, customer acquisition and retention, and shifting stakeholder dynamics.
  • Links marketing budget decisions to customer acquisition, retention, and overall business objectives.

Sales Distribution Channel / Marketing Channel

  • Advises on the planning and execution of multi-channel sales and marketing strategies.
  • Ensures the team understands channel strategies, associated business implications, and the benefits, risks, and considerations of multiple marketing channels.

Effectiveness Measurement / Customer Satisfaction / Business Analytics

  • Supervises others in the use of data collection, analysis, reporting tools, and analytical techniques to support business decisions.
  • Develops an effective KPI and measurement strategy to evaluate whether marketing objectives are driving customer engagement and business results.
  • Uses metrics, customer satisfaction trends, and performance data to assess effectiveness, adjust strategy, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Establishes short- and long-range improvement goals and action plans for the function.

What you need

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of work experience
  • Experience working in the Medical device industry, marketing, or sales experience

Preferred

  • MBA
  • 5+ years of medical device or marketing experience
  • 2+ years of people management experience
  • Excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects while delivering on established timelines
  • Must be able to understand and work within complex interdivisional procedures and policies
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint)

  • USN: $135,600 - $225,900 USD Annual
  • US5: $142,400 - $237,200 USD Annual
  • US10: $149,200 - $248,500 USD Annual
  • US15: $155,900 - $259,800 USD Annual
  • US20: $162,700 - $271,100 USD Annual
  • US30: $176,300 - $293,700 USD Annual
