Job description
On Site Location: 600 Hope Pkwy SE, Leesburg, VA
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, flexible
Wage: $37.65/hr.
Summary:
The CNC Programmer/Machinist assists with the setup, operation, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines including lathes, drill presses, grinders, and other precision equipment. The incumbent works from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts as well as for experimental apparatus or prototype equipment. The work is routine and machining is performed to ordinary tolerances.
What You Will Do:
- Program and operate CNC machines, including complex geometry, using G code and CAM software (Ex: Rotary, Surfacing, 4 and 5 Axis Milling Machines and/or Multi-Axis Lathes).
- Interpret complex mechanical blueprints and 3D CAD Models for manufacturing specifications with occasional use of detail manual mills and lathes.
- Build, fabricate, or repair manufactured parts from verbal instructions, blueprints and/or working drawings.
- Use and operate a variety of hand tools, electrical, and mechanical equipment, as well as various forms of precision inspection equipment (i.e. comparators, micrometers, calipers, gauging, etc.).
- Benchtop assembly fabrication and custom fitting.
- Perform In process Inspection on manufactured parts/assemblies.
- Repair, clean, adjust and/or perform preventive maintenance on equipment, tools, or machinery, etc.
- Offer constructive feedback to engineers on design for manufacturing.
What You Need:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience with machine programming/operation
- 2+ years of experience programming and operating 4+ axis machine centers
- Familiarity with benchtop fabrication/assembly practices (i.e. fits, mechanics, burring, hand tools, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with micrometers, calipers, dial and digital indicators, optical comparator, ring gauges, pin gauges, and thread gauges
- Experience with ASME Y14.5 M-1994 Geometric Tolerance
- Experience with principles, theories, and practices of machining Stainless Steels, Cobalt Chrome, Aluminum, and Plastics.
