Job description
The Associate Technical Service Manager is responsible for providing leadership, direction, and development of their Service team. The Associate Technical Service Manager assists in the development and execution of activities to meet growth, operational profitability, and quality objectives. Utilizes a wide array of knowledge, technical skills and critical thinking to facilitate Service activities.
What you will do:
Direct oversight of frontline service employees and other leads or supervisors
Management of teams of 3+ employees and ensure resources to ensure adequate coverage
Assist the Sr. Technical Service Manager with region growth, employee development, recruiting, retention and overall performance of Technical Services within the region
Supports regional talent management efforts including identifying possible candidates, selection, on-boarding, training, development, and coaching/ mentoring
Sets performance targets and distributes work amongst his reports
Manages resources to ensure adequate coverage
Partners with Sales Reps and RSM’s to address key customer needs and escalations
Provides support in creation and delivery of business reviews and other required business updates
Provides support with regional strategy and shares ownership for execution of objectives
Supports an aligned, accountable culture that drives continuous improvement and data driven decision making
Ensures appropriate employee onboarding and technical training is delivered effectively and on time
Develops, coaches, and challenges direct reports and high potential talents "in the work" to provide timely guidance and achieve measurable results while building individual and organizational capabilities
Support process improvement and cost savings initiatives
Utilizes analytics and continuous improvement to increase operational / commercial results
Maintains coaching relationship with team to develop capability in a professional manner
Accountable for the Service Team’s regulatory and compliance adherence to local rules and guidelines
Works with local business partners including Customer Care, Distribution, HR, Quality, and Regulatory to build engagement and partnerships across departments
What you need:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
5 to 7 years Medical Industry and Technical Service experience required
People management experience preferred
Fluent in local language and English
Proven ability to identify, develop, coach and mentor new and existing technical talent
Working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the applicable area of engineering/ technical specialization
Strong interpersonal skills including written / oral communication, conflict management and people management
Strategic thinking with hands-on mentality
Meets or exceeds financial targets via compliant means
Must be able to manage time, projects, stress and conflict
Working knowledge and understanding of the basic principles, theories, concepts, and practices in the applicable area of engineering/ technical specialization
Ability to operate in a complex matrix environment, leveraging internal and external partners to meet the needs of the business
Must possess strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication
Up to 40% travel
