What you will do

As a Strategic Commodity Manager, you will be responsible for developing Indirect category strategies, best practices, processes, policies, procedures and project development to deliver sustainable margin results across all of our global manufacturing sites.  You will identify opportunities for value improvement and drive global leverage and efficiencies across site operations.   You will work closely with local, franchise, regional and global stakeholders and will be tasked with creating fact bases, strategic initiatives, business cases and recommendations and will convert local strategies and initiatives into global strategies with an eye on continuous process improvement.

This position is based in our Mahwah, NJ facility.   Strong, remote based candidates may be considered

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develops Global Quality & Operations (GQ&O )Indirect procurement strategies including total cost of ownership decisions, risk management, future business needs, according to standard strategy methodology
  • Coach, develop and engage direct reports in the successful execution of programs projects delivering business results
  • Drive year on year cost reduction through strategic initiatives identification and implementation including policy development and deployment
  • Understand market, demand and supply trends for categories of spend and regional variances
  • Provide research and data analytics to create fact base, strategic initiatives and business cases to reduce costs and drive margin expansion
  • Create and develop strategic initiatives roadmap and integrate insights from operations functions and local sites into global strategy
  • Preform RFQ’s to determine best supplier selection and develop service level agreements with service providers to ensure compliance and accountability for supplier performance
  • Balances multiple projects and schedules to meet stakeholder goals and expectations

What you need

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required; MBA preferred
  • 5 years of relevant professional experience in a manufacturing operations and/or sourcing organization
  • Strong negotiating skills and mastery of negotiation preparation, stakeholder coaching, and execution
  • Ability to create actionable, short-term, mid-term, and long-term strategies based on holistic fact base and shareholder agenda
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills and ability to construct/execute multiple complex analyses (e.g., TCO, NPV; cost-price analyses) simultaneously
  • Excellent planning/project management skills and experience leading complex projects and meeting challenging deadlines in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and presentation skills; must be comfortable presenting at all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence across various levels, including senior management; must be able to diplomatically persuade others and effectively drive change
  • Must be challenged by a team-based environment which places a high degree of emphasis on accountability for customer satisfaction, cost reduction and quality/GMP compliance
  • Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking and creative problem solving
