This position is within the Endoscopy Business Unit, which specializes in advanced surgical imaging equipment.  The devices are high end electro-mech optical systems that provide visualization of internal and external anatomy.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer with experience designing and testing PCBAs and electrical-mechanical systems with 5 years or more experience.  Ideally with experience in medical devices development or other regulated industries

As the Staff Engineer, we expect that you would be able to:

  • independently determine and develop approaches to a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
  • Use the latest engineering techniques to reduce product time to market whilst adhering to regulatory requirements, project deadlines and product costs. 
  • Build productive internal and external working relationships and may periodically provide guidance and train other team members.

Responsibilities

Leadership:

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing and presentation skills essential.
  • Individual must possess strong leadership skills, proven ability to coach and mentor individuals in technical skills and people development areas.  The individual should enjoy working in a dynamic and results driven team-based environment with flexibility essential.  
  • Demonstrated leadership, project management and engineering experience in new product introduction in a regulated environment preferred.

Functional Responsibilities:

  • Provide engineering support for new product and process introductions, ensuring that all activities are completed and documented in accordance with the Stryker new product development procedures.
  • Ensure quality of process and product as defined in the appropriate operation and material specifications.
  • Will select components and equipment based on analysis of specifications, reliability and regulatory requirements. Work with quality engineers to develop component specific testing and inspection protocols.
  • May lead/support capital acquisition activity from specifying equipment, contract negotiation, Installation and validation.
  • Will analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental test and result analysis. Lead and/or participate in process review meetings.
  • Participate in PFMEA, Control Plan, SOP and PPAP generation associated with product transfers and launches.
  • Complete capability studies for in process inspection and generate subsequent Inspection documentation.   
  • Conduct MSA studies for new products and new processes.
  • Provide training for manufacturing team members.
  • Ensure adherence to GMP and safety procedures.
  • Review and approval of validation documentation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

  • 5-8 Years leadership experience or substantial engineering support or project management experience in a team-based environment is required.
  • Self-starter with demonstrated efficient work methods, analytical & problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge in project management tools essential.  Strong analytical skills with a high problem solving and process improvement orientation critical.
  • Requires an analytical, logical and strategic thought process.
  • Experience in PCBA and system design is critical
  • Experience in process mapping, statistical methods and process/ product validations would prove beneficial.
  • Excellent PC skills (MS Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience in managing new products or process teams preferable.
  • Must be able to support the development of plans and identify risks, when applicable for the type of project.
  • Must be able to observe and correct reports inconsistencies (e.g. in written documents, product appearance, systems’ gaps, etc.).
  • Must be able to generate and explain detailed schedules, performance, and design objectives.
  • Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately.
  • Must be able to communicate with large groups of people
  • Must be able to review printed materials

Education & Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering or equivalent education / experience.
