The Sr. Architect, in partnership with the Business Process Owner and Global Process Owners, defines the vision, strategy and principles for managing data as part of the Global ERP program. The Sr. Architect is accountable for defining standards, naming conventions, modeling and documenting the data models and architecture, ensuring alignment across the Stryker enterprise and documenting the impact on all business processes and systems.  The Sr. Architect defines the material, customer, and supplier data technology reference implementation in SAP MDG.  Additionally, the Sr. Architect supports the creation of clean-up, de-duplication, enrichment, integration and conversion plans and provides input on data quality measures. This is a great opportunity to contribute to and actively participate in the data governance processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction, guidance and definition for the ERP data architecture for material, vendor, customer and financial master data domains.
  • Alignment to Enterprise Data Governance strategies to develop the SAP MDG application.
  • Provide leadership and work with the SAP MDG ERP staff partners in the creation of a new Master Data Management System for Stryker. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Leads and directs work of technical team
    • Requirements and processes prioritization
    • Understanding and translation of requirement to design that could result into SAP MDG configuration or RICEFW objects
    • Implementation of solution through configuration and partnering with the SAP Development for RICEFW objects
    • Functional Design Specifications documentation for development team
    • Develop, Review and approval of all technical documentation
    • Develop, Review and approve test scripts
    • Provide support during Cutover task identification and execution
    • Resolution of defects
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and management to all affiliated projects involving the creation and or use of material, vendor, customer and finance master data.
  • Responsible for the functional design of interfaces from the new MDG solution to all Stryker downstream applications (legacy and affiliated projects).
  • Work across all program work streams including OTC, PTP, FTS/RAQA, BA and RTR to ensure all master data needs are identified and implemented.
  • Writes specifications, develops architectural concepts and artifacts.
  • Partners with the Enterprise Architecture for the creation of the conceptual, logical and physical enterprise data model including integration points.
  • Define standards, document lineage, lifecycle and data flows for the 360 degree view of material, supplier, customer and finance data domains.
  • Leads assessment of the as-is and to-be data landscape for the different master data objects.
  • Support the data analysis approach and monitor creation, de-duplication, transformation and clean-up activities for the different master data domains.
  • Technology hands-on expert in master data management systems.

Education & Special Trainings:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, Business Administration or equivalent required.
  • Master's degree in MIS, MBA or related disciplines is preferred.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years in the SAP industry or consulting experience with a minimum of 5 years working hands-on with SAP MDG applications and data management activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of a master data architecture and enterprise data model, meta-data solution & data management solution in SAP MDG is required.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in SAP MDG 8.0 or above is required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of data modeling, integration and data services, including SAP best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Expertise in information and integration architecture and technologies, including structured & unstructured data (i.e. Big Data) required.
  • Experience with HP-ALM applications a plus.
  • Experience in a medical device or life sciences company with an excellent understanding of core business processes, including OTC, PTP, FTS, R&D etc. preferred.
  • Previous experience in a major large, complex high-end ERP implementation; experience in multi-country implementation preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, analytical, change management and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain clear communication channels with IS and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert complex business functions into technical specifications.
