What you will do:

As a Senior Staff Engineer you will lead the design, implementation, and integration of system features (software, robotic arm, implants, and surgical instruments) to deliver best-in-class robotic-assisted orthopedic solutions. You will work closely with developers and engineers to develop surgical applications and to develop internal processes to enhance scalability. You will monitor technological advancements to ensure that solutions are continuously improved, supported, and aligned with industry and company standards as well as emerging business requirements. He/she will understand the interactions between systems, sub-systems, applications, and services within the environment, and evaluate the impact of changes or additions. The candidate should work with minimum supervision on highly complex projects.

  • Independently design and implement complex concepts and systems including system  architectural design, relevant design documentation, test planning and execution
  • Specialize in various technology domains and evaluates new technologies
  • Support designs and the selection of platform technologies
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant requirements in cooperation with other engineering disciplines, QA/RA/AO, etc.
  • Maintain and improve engineering methods and practices
  • Train and mentor regarding established engineering best practices, design principles, processes and tools
  • Work with core team to determine project schedules and time commitments of self and other functional project team members and be able to clearly communicate status of assignments to project management.
  • Perform holistic problem analysis
  •  Support the implementation of state-of-the-art technologies
  • Design and implement solutions to address identified problems
  • Work independently with surgeon customers in a user setting, clearly communicate design goals and incorporate feedback into designs
  • Participate in, solicit feedback and document reports as needed on cadaveric evaluations

What you Need:

  • Minimum of 7+ years’ experience
  • Medical device and /or robotics experience within a highly regulated industry
  • Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Advance degree desired

Experience In:

  • Systems engineering principles as it applies to medical device development from concept phase to final design and commercial release
  • The use of Software Tools (i.e., MiniTab) for statistical analysis.
  • Matlab and 3D CAD software (Solidworks).
  • The use of risk management practices applied to medical device development.
  • Creating design specifications and requirements definition.
  • Developing test protocols/procedures, collecting and analyzing data, and creating detailed reports.
