Sales Development Director, Extremities (F&A)-remote in Mahwah, NJ at Stryker Corporation

Drive the planning, direction, and oversight of key Foot & Ankle activities and strategic priorities, ensuring that all financial targets are achieved and that the business is operating in a manner that will maximize growth. This includes but is not limited to sales results, product launches, and education programs. As the dedicated ambassador for the Foot & Ankle business, this role functions as a conduit between the Extremities organization and the dedicated sales force in the branches and agencies to help drive sales and sales efficiencies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear direction, strategy and leadership to Strategic Sales Development managers and field clinical specialists through weekly calls and other communication methods to strategize maintaining focus on complex procedures in branches and agencies.
  • Lead the Foot & Ankle Sales Education function to ensure the sales force is trained on the safe and effective use of our products and selling skills.
  • Drive focus and accountability to ensure that Foot & Ankle is a priority within Branches and Agencies.
  • Collaborate with peers to collaboratively work on strategic projects and initiatives to ensure that Stryker continues to be a market leader.
  • Focus on and engage regularly with key customers (Stryker and competitive).
  • Provide competitive and business information to Marketing, R&D, and/or Business Development organizations to provide insight to strategy, pricing, innovation projects and other business requirements.
  • Partner with Extremities Marketing on strategic initiatives, PowerBI, samples, and playbooks. Collaborate to align on clear field messaging and facilitate two-way exchange of information between marketing and the field. Align on and communicate to field clear selling strategies for both DPM and MD surgeon population. Use data and other tools provided by marketing to assist branches/agencies in maintaining and growing F&A business and supporting appropriate structure of business. Participate in product positioning and pricing strategy to produce the highest possible long-term market share.
  • Work with Sales Operations to manage F&A as it relates to comp plans and clearly represent and communicate concerns of F&A reps. Work with Sales Ops on reporting, NSM meeting planning, awards, and agency agreements as it pertains to subsidy payment to agency reps/compensation.
  • Collaborate with Medical Education department determining F&A faculty and programs to be delivered to CEPs.
  • Build strong relationships with sales team in field by engaging, interacting, and listening with frequent and ongoing communication. Ensure open two-way communication and connectivity with the sales reps to capture the voice of the field. Bolster problem resolution and support for in-field challenges.
  • Feed-back the voice of the field to leadership for ongoing improvement opportunities.  Function as an ambassador to the business by fostering positive business relationships in order to improve the employee experience and sales results. Ensure two-way exchange of information between corporate extremities team and F&A reps. Advance “Feet on the Street” initiative.
  • Management and leadership of Executive Council.
  • Build strong partnership with key stakeholders (Sales VPs, AVPs/Area Directors, GM, other business partners, and F&A stakeholders); Maintain connectivity to AVPs for bid challenges and business reviews; communicate issues and opportunities. Participate in the Strategic Planning process.
  • Participate in CEP visits

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, an advanced degree (e.g. MBA) is advantageous
  • 10+ years of relevant sales/marketing experience, with a large portion of this being within the medical technology industry. 
  • 5+ years of effectively leading people.
  • Previous experience managing Sales Education is a plus.
  • Demonstrated record of executing the launch of new products and integrating new BD initiatives into Sales Force.
  • Demonstrated record of overachieving sales and financial goals (e.g. quota, operating income etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, lead and influence at all levels of the organization (executives, peers, direct reports, indirect teams etc.).
  • Ability to seamlessly operate within a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-divisional environment while driving business initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and align leaders around strategies to drive growth and business improvement.
  • Demonstrated track record of hiring, training and engaging top talent including succession planning for leadership / management roles.
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
