JOB TITLE                 Project Manager

REPORTS TO         Associate Manager, Product Engineering

POSITION SUMMARY: The individual will be responsible for the Project Management of new product development projects, integration of technology and product acquisitions into R&D, and post market design continuous improvement projects. The project manager will have oversight of the Product Engineering Portfolio and responsibility for overall Product Engineering project reporting. The project manager will work closely with Product Development, Marketing, Advanced Operations and Global Quality and Operations to drive innovation, speed to market, product quality and design for manufacture.

  • Project Manage the development of medical device products from concept to production including acquisition integration. Participation in multi functional product development teams and liaison with marketing for the development and specification of new concepts for medical device products.
  • Actively participate in the development process for assigned projects with focus on innovation, time to market, cost minimization, DFM (Design for manufacture) and in­ built product quality.
  • Develop and implement project budgets. Optimize R&D (Research and Development) return on investment, undertake cost benefit and break even analysis of proposed new product ventures including both process and product development. Compilation and review of annual and monthly R&D project budgets and monthly spend projections.
  • Compiles project plans for assigned projects and coordinates project team meetings. Communicates regular updates on project status to divisional R&D, GQO (Global Quality and Manufacturing) and AO (Advanced Operations) leadership and project sponsors. Coordinates with business units, advanced operations, suppliers and functional leaders as needed to ensure specific cost, time and/or regulatory standards are met. Communicates regular updates on project status to senior management, the project team, stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Will monitor and control progress of projects to provide technical oversight and ensure sound application of engineering principles are used and design intent of new technology is being followed/achieved through product commercialization.
  • Partner with the Strategic Sourcing, AO, and GQO to develop close strategic collaboration's with external development partners, equipment and component suppliers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and technology partners to ensure appropriate vendor selection and optimum supply chain design.
  • Ensure the efficient and timely transfer of proven technology concepts and knowledge from product development to advanced operations and GQO.
  • Manage the Product Engineering product portfolio and represent Product Engineering and Global team meetings.
  • Develop reports to communicate status on key metrics for senior management
  • Delegate for Product Engineering Manager role, technical approval on prints and design changes


  • Bachelors Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • 4 years experience of leading product development projects and managing new product commercialization in a high performance engineering industry (e.g. medical device, automotive, aerospace etc.).
  • Individual will be expected to help drive change through influence.
  • Strong communication skills across a diverse audience and an ability to integrate well with AO, Ops, Marketing, finance etc.
  • Demonstrated use of best practice methodologies such as six sigma, SPC, capability analysis, R&R, DOE, DFM, GD&T
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft project for planning and detailing project plans.
  • Experience of statistical methods and design, product and process validations and Power BI would prove beneficial.
