What you will do-

The Project Manager position in the R&D department with primary responsibilities to lead and manage all aspects of post-delivery software maintenance and enhancement (SWM&E) projects, from initiation to project closure. This software development project manager will possess in-depth knowledge of Agile-Scrum process and principles and assume Agile-Scrum “Product Owner” responsibilities. This individual will also possess and/or build in-depth knowledge of medical device design control procedures as well as the enterprise product life cycle management tools and assume “Change Request Owner” responsibilities. The project manager may also assume Agile-Scrum “Scrum Master responsibilities. This individual will also work closely with leadership to ensure project timelines, quality objectives and project budgets are achieved in the delivery of each project, while representing project status throughout the project.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities - Project Manager:

  • Record customer requirements, constraints, and assumptions with stakeholders in order to establish the project deliverables and scope.
  • Ability to assemble a project team, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of project.
  • Ability to provide project budget estimates and monitoring throughout the project lifecycle, including requesting and managing the capital expenditure budget
  • Identify, assess, monitor and close project risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop project plans and schedules, and subsequently manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques in order to keep the project plan accurate, updated, and reflective of authorized changes to facilitate customer acceptance.
  • Direct the work of project resources while improving team performance by building team cohesiveness, leading, influencing, and motivating in order to facilitate cooperation, ensure project efficiency, and foster employee engagement.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques in order to monitor the progress of the project, identify and quantify any variances, perform any required corrective actions, and communicate to all stakeholders.
  • Represent project status through regular status reporting opportunities. Manage status communication with project team, stakeholders, functional managers, executive team and Project Management Office (PMO).
  • Use project management skills to ensure that cross-functional resources are held accountable for task and outcome completion.
  • Manage lessons learned and project closing and ensure impactful lessons learned are embedded in ongoing evolution of the PMO process.
  • Participate in PM community and leverage PMO tools to optimize management of projects. PM’s will collaborate extensively with the Project Management Office (PMO).

Primary Duties/Responsibilities - Agile-Scrum Product Owner: A product owner owns the product on behalf of stakeholders and is responsible for presenting a clear vision of the minimum viable product to the development team. He or she is responsible for managing the product backlog in order to achieve the desired outcome that a product development team seeks to accomplish. 

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Clearly identify and describe product backlog items in order to build a shared understanding of the problem and solution with the product development team
  • Make decisions regarding the priority of product backlog items in order to deliver maximum outcome with minimum output
  • Determine whether a product backlog item was satisfactorily delivered
  • Ensure transparency into the upcoming work of the product development team.
  • Spend a significant amount of time overseeing the actual development of the product. They are a key player throughout each event, including planning, refinement, review, and sprint.
  • Look out for market trends and get feedback from stakeholders or customers
  • Be the primary communicator and link between stakeholders and teams, making sure there’s buy-in from stakeholders on all major decisions and strategy

Primary Duties/Responsibilities - Agile-Scrum Scrum Master: The scrum master is responsible for ensuring the team lives agile values and principles and follows the processes and practices that the team agreed they would use.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Clearing obstacles
  • Establishing an environment where the team can be effective
  • Addressing team dynamics
  • Ensuring a good relationship between the team and product owner as well as others outside the team
  • Protecting the team from outside interruptions and distractions

Primary Duties/Responsibilities - Change Request Owner: Own change management from planning through implementation for post-delivery software updates through the enterprise product lifecycle management software (PTC Windchill)

What you need-

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or similar field
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile-Scrum process and principles
  • 4+ years of industry experience in professional software development within the capacity of a project manager and/or product owner
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Familiarity with software to maintain project records, such as a PPM system, MS Project, MS Office, SharePoint, or Visio
  • Ability to analyze and correct complex process and/or system issues of a broad scope under guidance of leadership or senior-level project managers
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with mid-level and senior-level management
  • Ability to influence behavior and facilitate decision making throughout the organization in support of achieving project objectives
  • Ability to work cooperatively at all levels to build and maintain the positive relationships required to accomplish organizational goals
  • Good interpersonal communication, collaborative team work, and negotiation skills
  • Experience in presenting to management and project teams
  • Experience in issue and project tracking software such as Azure DevOps or Atlassian Jira
  • Demonstrated track record of leading development efforts through cross functional teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in medical device software development practices
  • Experience in new product development within the medical device industry
  • Experience with Azure DevOps
  • PMP certification or equivalent
