Position Summary:

Part of the Facility Management team, this position will oversee building and equipment maintenance schedules, coordinate or self perform general operations (electrical, mechanical, HVAC, janitorial, outside ground, waste management etc..), building security systems, assist in office space planning, general maintenance projects and prepare for emergencies by implementing action plans. The coordinator will support the Facility Manager with initiatives improving efficiencies and reducing facilities operating cost. In addition, the coordinator may be assigned facility related projects by the Facility Manager. Depending on need, the Coordinator may also be assigned projects at other Stryker buildings in Portage .

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Detailed Description)

  • Assist Facility Manager in managing building maintenance activities.
  • Assist Facility Manager in allocating and managing space within the building.
  • Complete Facility PM’s in a timely and concise manner
  • Assist Facility Manager in planning and overseeing building work and renovations.
  • Assist Facility Manager in coordinating outside contractors/vendor activities.
  • Assist Facility Manager in ensuring the facility meets government regulations and environmental, health and security standards.
  • Inspect/coordinate/perform the maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds and related equipment.
  • Advising on energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinator may also be assigned projects at other Stryker buildings in Portage .

Education & Special Trainings:

  • Associate degree or Certification in engineering, facility and project management or related field preferred.
  • Certified Building Operator Level 1 preferred.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Broad knowledge of facility and related equipment.
  • Minimum 2 years facility related experience. 
  • Available for emergencies during and after working hours.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Work well in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience with CAD preferred

  • Must show good judgement with ever changing priorities and/or situations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate qualities of confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion.
  • Must be willing to learn
  • Core competencies in communication, emergency preparedness, business continuity, environmental stewardship and sustainability, operations and maintenance, project management and technology.
  • Must be able to perform duties that include physical ability, lifting (min. of 40 lbs.), stoop, balance, stand, reaching, spending majority of day on your feet, etc.
  • Must have a mechanical aptitude.
