What you will do-

The Demand Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining high quality consensus demand plans for the organization by leveraging statistical baseline forecasts and the best available cross-functional inputs, as well as applying sound judgment based on knowledge of the business.  The individual will work with the Forecast Central Modeling team to optimize statistical forecasts within the demand planning system and adjust plans as necessary to deliver the highest accuracy possible.  The individual will work with Sales, Sales Operations and Marketing to gain market intelligence information and other cross-functional teams and systems to gather critical demand inputs. 

This person will also be responsible for analyzing data to identify trends in demand. This individual will be key in identifying significant business risks and escalating to the appropriate leadership teams related to demand plans and shipment targets.  The individual will participate in Executive Demand Reviews to drive leadership and cross-functional alignment.  The demand plan provided will be used by the Supply Planning and GQO organization to help determine manufacturing needs and resources required to meet the demand and drive optimal lead time and financial performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Builds personal competency as a subject matter expert in the region or business segment they represent.
  • Ensure on time delivery of high accuracy demand plans of the Division by product and/or option level. 
  • Analyze data and create reports to support the business needs and provide better information for decision-making.
  • Represent the demand planning process within Stryker’s Integrated Business Planning (IBP) process, demonstrating thought leadership, creativity in solving problems and the ability to appropriately communicate and escalate issues as needed.
  • Utilize Statistical baseline forecast in Demantra or appropriate demand planning system and provide business inputs to forecast modelers to improve the performance of statistical baseline forecast.
  • Improve forecast accuracy by effectively analyzing sources of demand plan error and recommending appropriate action plans.
  • Focus on exception management including phase-in and phase-out items, conversions & promotions and collaborate with Marketing, Sales and Finance business partners to collect and challenge the demand forecast.
  • Support execution of the product life-cycle management process for all new product launches and phase-outs, as it relates to the demand planning function.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the development, modification and adjustment of procedures, policies, processes and technologies within the demand planning organization and ensure the alignment with corporate guidance.
  • Assist with annual budget preparation, status reports and other related communications.
  • Present at Executive Demand Review meetings and other meetings as appropriate.
  • Support training and education sessions as needed both within the demand planning team and across the organization as warranted. 

What you need-

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree required (focus in Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance/Accounting, Engineering or equivalent is strongly preferred)
  • 3+ years of business experience in the following disciplines is required: Supply Chain Planning, Demand Management/Forecasting, Sales & Operations Planning, Finance/Accounting, or Marketing.  

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APICS/IBF/CSCMP or other professional certification in Supply Chain concepts
  • Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization
  • Negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to drive results through a global matrix structure
  • Must be able to generate and explain extremely detailed proposals, guidelines and procedures
  • Must be able to communicate well and influence to all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to analyze and resolve complex supply chain issues of a broad scope using independent judgment
  • Understanding of end to end supply chain, key marketing and/or sales concepts
  • Experience using statistical software packages and capable of extensive spreadsheet analysis
  • Prior experience with demand planning tools like Oracle Demantra, Demand Solutions or SteelWedge
  • Strong MS Office skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Access)            
  • Knowledge of ERP (Oracle/SAP), Demand Planning Tools (Demantra)
  • Business experience in the medical device or related industry
  • Cross-functional experience in related fields
  • Excellent data analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability for decision making, to work under time pressure, accuracy and prioritization
  • Team work and customer service orientation
  • Ability in observation and attention to details
