Compliance Integration Manager in Kalamazoo, MI at Stryker Corporation

The Compliance Integration Manager works in partnership with local compliance professionals and cross-functionally to manage and support activities essential to the integration of an acquired business into Stryker.  The key areas of focus for this role will include: implementation of an effective compliance program; leadership engagement to support ethical culture; employee training and communication; management of health care professionals; processing of grants and donations; management of indirect selling channels; and implementation of appropriate industry codes of ethics. Demonstrated experience in project management, health care compliance and/or business acquisition/integration highly preferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing strong relationships throughout area of responsibility to foster an advisory or collaborative approach to proactive compliance. 
  • Responsible for managing and supporting the implementation of compliance program plans, tasks and initiatives to ensure push-down throughout the organization.
  • Maintains current working knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations, and periodically reviews and updates standards relating to compliance.  These include but are not limited to our Corporate Policies and Procedures, industry trends and guidance on country, state/provincial or local laws.
  • Makes recommendations to compliance leadership regarding the development or revision of existing policies, procedures or systems to attain high levels of performance and build competitive advantage that drives consistency.
  • Incorporates Global Legal and Compliance Department operating principles into all activities.
  • May be responsible for the recruitment, selection, training and on-going performance management of one or more direct employees (associate manager and below).
  • One of the main points of contact, for the user community for integration of acquisitions into local compliance programs.
  • Topics will cover a range of areas, such as: communications, risk management, training, auditing and monitoring, and reporting, along with migration of high-risk transactions into corporate applications for health care professionals, grants and donations, indirect sales channels, issues/investigations, high-risk third-party vendors.

Additional responsibilities related to integration of acquisitions will include:

  • Working in collaboration with the commercial businesses and compliance leadership to design standard processes, procedures, programs, tools and resources to be used globally for the integration of acquired businesses into the Stryker Global Compliance Program
  • Working in collaboration with local integration teams to plan, execute and finalize acquisition integrations in compliance with strict deadlines, quality standards and within budget.
  • Acquiring, allocating and managing the efforts of team members and third-party consultants to deliver projects according to plan.
  • Directing and managing all aspects of integration from beginning to end.
  • Proactively managing changes in the project scope.
  • Developing and delivering progress reports
  • Planning, scheduling and tracking project timelines, milestones and deliverables.
  • Defining project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior manager and stakeholders.
  • Coordinating internal services with centers of expertise (COEs), including: policies, procedures, work instructions and industry codes of ethics that incorporate knowledge of regulations, our policies and ethical standards; integration into global compliance applications with the Informatics system administrators; migrate data, set up and train users; compliance risk assessment to understand any unique risks; incorporate into audit, monitoring programs and expand scope of reporting.
  • Coordinating with Divisional and local compliance teams when on-boarding the acquisitions to ensure foundational elements of an effective compliance program are adopted.
  • Administration of compliance-related training.
  • Establishment of a compliance committee or other oversight as appropriate.
  • Ethics hotline set up and user training.
  • Identification of high-risk interactions (HCPs, indirect channels, grants, sponsorships, exhibits, donations and other high-risk vendors) and implementation of appropriate activities to remediate or mitigate risk.
  • Development or local implementation of Global Compliance Program requirements (training, communication, risk management, reporting, monitoring/auditing).
  • Develop and present compliance / system metrics for internal and external audiences to understand progress and status of the acquisition integrations.
  • Support global / group / region / division compliance program requirements.
  • Identify and program enhancements and provide recommendations to COE leads.
  • Present information to the compliance committee or other oversight body.
  • Perform related work as assigned by the Senior Director, Global Programs.

Education & Special Training:

  • Undergraduate degree required, graduate degree preferred.
