We are currently seeking a Staff Engineer, Advanced Operations to join our team in Portage, MI.
Advanced Operations is leading the creation of a global team dedicated to achieving excellence in Manufacturing Transfer (MT) This role will support our Manufacturing Transfer team being a Key Enabler of transformation delivering on “cost out” opportunities to become a global competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- Designs, validates and brings new products to market.
- Specifies precise new product functional requirements; designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability and safety.
- Designs, develops, executes and evaluates fitness-for-use testing, product specifications and process validation plans; creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials.
- Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability.
- Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) systems to model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings.
Qualifications and Skillset
- B.S in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline and 5 or more years of experience
- Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM), related statistical tools and validation/verification techniques
- Good knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, product and process design
- Experience with Quality and PPAP workbooks
- Experience in executing complex problem-solving techniques related to manufacturing/design technical issues
- Proven track record of working in a team-based environment
- Excellent Interpersonal Skills - able to express ideas and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Good instincts and sound judgement for mechanical and structural design.
