Descrição do Emprego

Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings. Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers.

This position requires knowledge that is acquired through experience, specialized education, or training. The role has clearly defined procedures and tasks as well as defined guidelines to aid in decision making. The job should possess a good knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the range of processes, procedures and systems to be used in carrying out assigned tasks and a basic understanding of the underlying concepts & principles upon which the job is based. The knowledge can be acquired through a combination of job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience. The job works within well-defined procedures that may involve a variety of work routines.

Maintenance activities to CNC machine tool equipment will be primary responsibility. Knowledge of PLC repair and Servo Drive repair is beneficial. Utilization of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) is required.

Basic Function

Under general to minimal supervision performs appropriate and timely maintenance, installation and rearrangement of equipment and /or machinery.


  • Coordinates and executes on-going repair, preventive maintenance and facilities related activities.
  • Assists in facilities rearrangement, relocation and renovation projects.
  • May work from machinery manuals and/or schematics.
  • May be required to comply with documentation requirements/procedures.
  • May work from verbal instructions.
  • May train others on maintenance related topics.
  • Will test, repair and maintain a wide range of new and older pieces of equipment/machinery using considerable independent judgment to ensure quality, correct parts and/or proper procedures are used.
  • May interact with vendors telephonically and/or in person to diagnose and repair equipment/machinery issues.
  • May perform various facility audits and/or systems tests.
  • Maintain outside grounds.
  • May supervise outside contractors conducting facilities related tests.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • The ability to work with and assemble small objects and component parts.
  • Must have good visual acuity and demonstrate fine motor skills/ability.

Mental Requirements

  • Must be able to follow and explain detailed instructions, inspection and repair procedures.
  • Must be able to complete detailed documentation accurately.
  • Must be able to communicate equipment and/or machine issues to others.
  • Must be able to analyze and correct routine machine/equipment issues using independent judgment.

Qualifications/Work Experience Preferred

  • Blueprint/schematic reading.
  • Ability to operate small hand tools (e.g. pliers, screwdrivers, hammer, wrenches, etc.), power tools and test equipment.
  • Basic math, measuring and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated mechanical problem solving skills.
  • 4+ years maintenance or related experience.
  • Lock out/Tag out.
  • Hazard communication.
  • Fork lift operation.
  • Preventive maintenance system.
  • Hazardous waste disposal.
  • Housekeeping/safety audits.
  • Good Maintenance Practices (GMP).
  • Offsite machine maintenance courses.
  • Boiler operation.

Education/Special Training Required

  • Technical school, apprenticeship and/or equivalent experience.
  • High school diploma
