The Manager, Business Insights will require someone who possess strong interpersonal skills, analytical thinking, and curious mindset. The role will be responsible for managing and championing the self-service business intelligence and reporting strategy across multiple business functions within the Instruments division. This Manager will partner between business functions at Instruments, IS, and global programs such as Accelerate to coordinate with and enable a cross functional community of power users on building and administering solutions that deliver the right information at the right time to the right people. Responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with enterprise programs such as Accelerate to ensure Instruments has well defined/trained super users that can self service data and information using reporting and analytics tools.
  • Establishing cadence to ongoing training of new and existing super users in various functions at Instruments on analytics and reporting tools and their approved uses at Stryker.
  • Leading an agile team of Analytics experts responsible for building reporting and analytics self service solutions using standard approved tools such as Power BI, SAP Analytics for Office, Data Bricks, etc.
  • Developing KPIs/metrics to track and monitor the usage and effectiveness of standardized reporting solutions as well as the self-service analytics activity of the business functions.
  • Maintaining and developing own personal expertise in analytics and reporting tools to support the instruments super user community.  I.e. provides central contact point for expertise in the use of these tools.
  • Demonstrating adaptability and high learner qualities that enable quick and efficient understanding of existing systems and business processes to help provide direction or build out solutions that answers strategic business challenges.
  • Providing recommendations and interpretations of the data or information provided/collected with reporting and analytics tools.
  • Managing prioritization of self and teams responsibilities across multiple workstreams or projects.

Education & Special Training:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Information Systems, Business Analytics, Data Science, or related specialty required.
  • Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience in B2B business using data to solve and predict insights to business problems required.
  • Experience utilizing Power BI to connect to and data model a variety of technical sources of information is highly preferred (Excel, Sharepoint, Oracle DB, SAP Hana DB, SQL Server, DB2, etc).
  • Experience utilizing SAP Analysis for Office in a business functional setting highly preferred.
  • Experience writing and understanding SQL preferred.


Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • 7-10+ years relevant experience.
  • Ability to approach business challenges with an analytical mindset using data and the analysis of it to provide recommendations.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize large amount of complex quantitative/qualitative data and research findings into easy to understand, actionable fact-based recommendations and strategies.
  • Demonstrated effective presentation, written, verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain data and findings to multiple levels of an organization. 
  • Experience within a business function (finance, sales, marketing, engineering, etc) or partnering with the function directly in providing meaningful analysis of data used to run the business.
  • Experience managing projects or multiple workstreams of priorities in order to meet or exceed expectations on timeline and quality of delivery.
  • Experience managing direction, workload, and priorities of functional team.
  • Experience crafting and articulating team strategy to multiple target audiences.
  • Must be able to work in environment with multiple priorities and self-govern day to day activities to meet overall department objectives.
  • Must be able to build effective interpersonal relationships across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience with data warehousing technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with data cleansing.
  • Knowledge and experience with data modeling and database concepts.
