Stryker is implementing a transformative program focused on optimizing the Finance function to support business growth and functional scalability.  The Center of Excellence (COE) for the Americas region will focus on supporting countries and product divisions in the region in a variety of specialized finance and accounting areas, including:  leases, inventory, planning and reporting, finance systems, and other complex accounting areas.

What you will do

In the early stages of building out the COE, the Lead Analyst, Technical Accounting will focus on applying ASC 842 Lease Accounting using the Nakisa application, as well as refining and implementing processes for Inventory accounting in SAP. As the COE continues its expansion into other accounting/finance areas, the Lead Analyst, Technical Accounting will assist with GAAP research and its application to a variety of Stryker transactions.  The Lead Analyst, Technical Accounting will also have opportunities to participate in various Corporate-wide projects involving complex accounting topics.

Lease Accounting Responsibilities

  • Reconcile monthly lease expense from Nakisa to Hyperion and investigate differences in a timely manner. 
  • Partner with divisions and Global Real Estate to ensure new leases, lease modifications and terminations are recorded timely and accurately.
  • Apply ASC 842 guidance and partner with divisions to ensure lease term, variable rent, tenant improvement incentives etc. are properly recorded in Nakisa and in the GL in accordance with ASC 842.
  • Collaborate with Corporate and other regional COEs to report lease information for disclosure requirements and support audit requests.
  • Assist in design and establishment of internal controls around lease accounting processes.
  • Partner with divisions to determine proper lease classification for both lessee and lessor contracts.

Inventory Responsibilities

  • Calculate, reconcile, and analyze Inventory and Inventory reserves for period close in SAP.
  • Analyze and prepare journal entries for Unrecognized Profit in Inventory.
  • Manage product costing for new products and annual cost roll.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls around inventory processes.
  • Coordinate and manage Budget and Forecast input, validation, and review.

 Other

  • Responsibilities will evolve and change as the COE continues to grow and expand.  The Lead Analyst, Technical Accounting will have opportunities for ongoing learning and development both within the initial areas of Lease and Inventory accounting, as well as outside of this initial scope in the future. 

What you need

  • 5 years experience in Audit, Accounting, or Finance
  • CPA preferred
  • Big 4 experience preferred
  • Experience researching and applying GAAP preferred
  • Proficiency with Excel
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data accurately and efficiently
  • Fluency in English required
  • Strong ability to coordinate action across dispersed workforce and highly matrixed organization
  • Strong written and verbal skills enabling effective communication with all levels of management
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and lead projects to completion.
