This is a key role in a dynamic and progressive finance organization, leading Stryker’s APAC Finance’s Center of Excellence organization, a large team of professionally qualified staff in the delivery of financial and compliance based services to Stryker’s APAC region. This key role is responsible for building a team of talented finance pool for APAC region, ensuring services provided comply with Stryker’s Corporate Finance policies, are cost effective, high quality and add value to the company.

He/She will lead a team of 20-25 professionally qualified staff, developing them into a high performing team and finance talent pool for APAC region. Over the next 12-24 months, he/she will seek to optimize and standardize Stryker’s APAC finance processes. He/She is responsible for creating an environment in which problem identification and solving occur in an innovative and collaborative fashion. He/She is focused on deliverables and the customer, ensuring effective and efficient progress is made towards targets and goals. He/she will provide leadership for the finance transformation by supporting from transition to stabilization, overseeing the team to ensure that they are appropriately equipped and trained. He/She will also provide leadership in finance process improvement, standardization and simplification towards the development of best in class end to end financial processes.

To accomplish all this, the COE Director must have led large teams successfully of more than 20, is strong in both verbal and written communication, has ability to work successfully in a virtual, regional, global environment, and ability to build/develop relationships in a multi-cultural environment.

This role requires some traveling (20%-30%).

Key Deliverables:-

Develop a high performing COE team

  • Provide leadership for the recruitment, retention and engagement of a fairly large team of 20-25 professionally qualified staff, and build a talented finance pool for APAC region.
  • Ensure the COE team has the appropriate skill sets, tools and equipment to deliver required services to agreed standards, including career planning and employee training and development.

Manage APAC COE’s operations

  • Oversee and lead a team (including outsourced service provider) in handling the financial accounting duties including the full sets of accounts, month end and year end closing process.
  • Provide leadership for resource management of COE to ensure deliverables are on-time.
  • Implement appropriate level of internal controls to preserve integrity of our financial data

Influence the identification of and direct the development of finance process improvement opportunities and innovative, cost-effective solutions for those opportunities.

  • Lead and mentor team members and through them, the initiatives with our customers to drive finance process transformation within Stryker
  • Responsible for influencing the creation, implementation and supporting development of standardized best practice end to end finance processes to reduce financial risk, enable continuous improvement and operational excellence regionally. This may require partnership with outsourced service provider.
  • Partner with other Stryker’s Centers of Excellence to effect changes, share best practices, leverage processes and automation, training, and employee learning & development.
  • Lead formation of/definition and implementation of metrics (Key Performance Indicators and Service Level Agreements) of COE
  • Direct and manage the detailed work project plans necessary to ensure delivery in a timely fashion of identified solutions.
  • Act as the focal point for APAC Finance, ensuring effective communication and resolution of key issues and decisions.
