Job Description

The University Recruiter works with targeted campuses to source, interview, and ultimately hire diverse internship talent onto the Stryker team, specifically in the early talent (internship and rotational program) capacity.  The University Recruiter builds relationships with Stryker Executives, hiring managers, selected college campuses, faculty members, career center staff/advisers, diverse recruitment sources, and students. The University Recruiter coordinates all events that take place on targeted campuses including but not limited to: Career Fairs, Expositions, Interview Days, Class Sponsorship, Student Organization outreach, Interdisciplinary programming and campus advisory boards.



Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

University Relations

  • Coordinate campus site-visits including: career fairs, speaking engagements, company overviews, company student group tours, job shadowing, and any other college student event for the campuses
  • Will work with campuses to build a strong partnership between Stryker and the targeted campuses
  • Will work with Executive Sponsors, Hiring Managers and select Stryker Representatives to build a recruiting team for university recruitment
  • Will create and drive a campus specific recruiting strategy on an annual basis including targeted goals for talent hires as well as deliverables for increased faculty, staff and student collaboration
  • Will track all campus activities with Company-wide Campus metrics and document all events on the Campus Profiles 
  • Work with other enterprise wide programs to network, host, source, and interview candidates for current openings
  • Manage and maintain campus budgets
  • Create specific program tracks based on feedback from university departments or faculty members

Programming

  • Plan and execute assigned programs and projects including but not limited to core campus management, campus strategy evaluation and management, integration of acquisition businesses, etc.
  • Must be able to work on/provide direction for cross-functional teams.

  Recruiting

  • Will be a Stryker Brand Ambassador representing Stryker’s culture and values in every candidate interaction
  • Develop a collaborating relationship with hiring managers to meet their staffing needs in regard to early talent
  • Will advocate for the early talent strategy advising HMs and HRBPs on benefits and recommended approach to internships, converting interns to full time and rotational programs
  • Will source, screen and interview candidates to fill early talent roles while also creating a talent pool of potential future hires.
  • Use applicant tracking system to accurately move candidates through the recruiting process in a timely manner.
  • Will evaluate, interpret and explain talent-based selection tools with/for Hiring Managers during the recruiting process.
  • Fully utilize the University Relations systems in place including campus recruiting technology.

Compliance

  • Will assist in the interpretation and administration of company policies and guidelines and will advise and counsel others in equitable application.
  • Ensure recruitment efforts are conducted in a manner that is unbiased and compliant with all applicant tracking, interviewing and hiring best practices, policies and laws.

Training

  • Coordinate training for region’s managers and advisors to ensure they are familiar with the tools available and the summer expectations.
  • Lead training to ensure that all campus partners are familiar with the expectations of recruiting on campus and Stryker’s Talent Selection and Assessment tools.
  • May conduct interviewing training and techniques to hiring managers of the interns. 

Human Resources

  • May assist in the compilation and/or preparation of confidential reports, statistics, graphs and/or files for the Human Resource function
  • May participate in new hire orientation and/or exit interviews.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • 0-3 Years’ Experience Required.
  • Experience working with high level executives preferred.
  • Must be able to manage time, projects, stress, and conflict.  
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills including oral and written communication.
  • Must be able to multitask and bring tasks through to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to negotiate effectively.


Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Must be willing to commute to both San Jose and Fremont Stryker offices. Schedule and number of days at each office is flexible
  • May involve prolonged periods of stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, sitting, standing, and/or crawling as appropriate.
  • May be required to move materials up to 50 pounds, reach, push, or pull in order to accomplish job requirements.
