Job Description

The Training Specialist--to be based in Kalamazoo, MI-- will be responsible for the administration and ongoing support of the company’s training management systems to ensure a high degree of utilization and accuracy.  This position takes an active role in the support of all departments and functional areas within the organization as an advisor to the needs assessment, content development, presentation and evaluation of training initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Is responsible for the on-going evaluation of the sites training catalog, identification of and coordination in remediating potential gaps in the catalog, and for periodic updates of all materials to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Supports all departments and functional areas by acting as an advisor in the needs assessment, course design, implementation and evaluation processes for divisional training.  Will conduct research and make recommendations with regard to both internal and external resources.
  • Coordinates the content development and design of assigned training projects.  Ensures that all  training achieves the objectives required by the company/department/team; is designed in a high quality manner to ensure accuracy; is completed in a timely manner with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, participation and effectiveness of New Hire Orientation and other reoccurring training programs. May also develop and conduct additional leadership development programs as assigned.
  • Acts as primary contact for any training-related questions during audits, both internal and external.
  • Responsible for the ongoing analysis and tracking of training effectiveness.
  • Responsible for the validation of changes made to the division’s learning management system.
  • Ensures alignment with training resources with the Division and GQO locations in Kalamazoo.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in organizational development, human resources development or related field required. 
  • Minimum of 0-2 years of practical training experience, including needs assessment, curriculum development, course design, and training evaluation preferred.
  • Strong critical thinking skills and ability to set SMART objectives.
  • Beginning level understanding of Statistical Analysis and research methodology preferred.
  • Must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent project management skills.
  • Must be PC-literate with high level knowledge of MS Office applications.  Experience with  learning management programs preferred.
  • Must possess excellent time management skills with ability to use independent judgment effectively.
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal communication skills.
