Job Title
R&D Test Engineer
Reports To
Test Engineering Manager
Position Summary
To take a role in determining and defining manufacturing test requirements for new products or systems, design or source test systems, test specifications and methodologies and provide support for existing products.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Design
To generate Test Methodologies and Specifications for new products or systems
To design/develop of Test Equipment for new products or systems
To determine Test Requirements and prove the Test Specifications or methodologies meet those requirements for the product or system
To validate and verify that the Test Equipment meets the specification and requirements
To generate the required documentation for the Test Equipment
To advise Design on the requirements for test to be incorporated into the product or system
To identify suppliers of Test Equipment or related components
To attend and contribute to Design Review meetings
To provide support to the Operations Engineering Team
To assist in the transfer of product from design to manufacture, particularly in respect of test
Perform and/or support Test Equipment Qualification Activities
- Product Sustaining/Manufacturing support
Provide technical support as required
Input to NC process to ensure adequate diagnostics of failed test equipment
Escalate problems, document and implement solutions via CAPA or other mechanism as per procedures
Provide and/or review engineering documentation required for transfer to operations, e.g. Work Instructions, BoMs, etc
Support Validation activities within operation, e.g. Pilot or Qualification builds, etc
Support Introduction of new suppliers or other offsite operations
- Training
Comply with the company training requirements and attend training sessions when required
Provide guidance and mentoring to team members
Provide training to others
- Quality
Maintain Engineering documentation and generate new documentation as required.
Take an active role in CAPA and risk management activities.
Any other duties as deemed necessary by the Chief Technology Officer/Engineering Manager.

Qualifications Knowledge Skills
- Qualifications:
3rd Level Qualification in an Electronics discipline
- Experience:
A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working within an Electronics Test or Development environment
- Specific Knowledge:
Knowledge of both Analogue and Digital electronics
Understanding of Electronics Test systems and techniques
- Experience: Desirable
Awareness of Risk Management/Mitigation techniques
Electronics Verification/Validation testing
Familiarity with Quality Management systems
- System/Computer Requirements:
Competency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
Capable of producing high quality technical documentation
