As a Mechanical Test Engineer with Stryker, you will be responsible for developing and executing robust verification and validation test strategies including test systems and application of statistics and risk management techniques to test complete or developmental products and surgical instruments used in joint replacement procedures.



What You Will Do

  • You will review and evaluate project requirements documentation for testability as well as sound technical competence to ensure we are delivering robust products.
  • You will provide input throughout the new product development process from a test perspective.
  • You will develop robust verification and validation test strategies to ensure a safe, reliable product is being developed.
  • You will generate appropriate test protocols/test cases to properly test the product and the corresponding test reports.
  • You will perform development and/or verification testing.
  • You will document and track defects found during test execution to ensure proper disposition.
  • You will develop and implement test systems and fixtures to complete necessary testing.
  • You will collaborate with other functional areas to ensure a comprehensive test strategy is developed.


What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering related discipline.  BSME highly preferred.
  • 0-3 years experience in a design/test engineering environment or in quality engineering role in a regulated environment highly preferred.
  • Experience with medical device development and testing preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Risk Analysis, Design V&V testing, Root Cause Analysis, Statistics and practical applications.
  • Excellent analytical and systematic problem solving skills and experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Equipment/Process validation experience preferred, with knowledge of GHTF approach to validation.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate small hand tools and test/inspection equipment.
  • Working knowledge of FDA, ISO, and other regulations and standards preferred.
  • ASQ Certifications (CQE, CRE, CSSBB) preferred.


Other Things to Consider

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry.
  • Need very good visual acuity.
  • Must be able to communicate with large groups of people.
  • Must be able to review printed materials and use common office equipment.
