Job Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting Extrusion & Expansion running on shop floor.  This role responds to the demands of production in meeting Stryker KPIs.  This role has a leadership and mentoring aspect to other more junior operations technicians and may also lead or co-lead small projects within production operations.

With minimal supervisory direction, this position support production activities including troubleshooting and resolving problems originating in changing of products, processes, materials and equipment settings to mimimize downtime.  Product and process development support, and, and equipment in order to achieve production KPI goals.  This level position requires an extensive knowledge extrusion and a high degree of independence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety, product quality and compliance with the Stryker, Quality Manual and its governing regulations.
  • Work cooperatively with R&D, Process Development, Quality, Production, Regulatory, Equipment Engineering, and Production Specialists to ensure project success.
  • Conduct qualification, verification, and validation activities as required.
  • Conduct moderately complex troubleshooting and resolution of routine and new problems.
  • Conduct activities, tasks, and documentation per quality system requirements.
  • Maintain documentation as required. 
  • Maintain a clean, safe, health conscious work area. 
  • Maintain MSDS information.                          
  • Complete other tasks as assigned. Principal technical interface with Engineering to identify and implement improvements in order to meet goals.
  • Assist in inventing/creating concepts and designs/approaches for new processes/test methods.
  • Design, procure, and fabricate basic equipment tooling and fixtures.
  • Design and coordinate basic engineering tests and experiments.
  • Summarize, analyze, and provide recommendations from test results.  Prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate results to the technical community.         
  • Maintain a clean, safe, health conscious work area using organizational skills and lockout/tag out knowledge.        
  • Conduct safety audits.                            
  • Train and provide technical support or direction to product builders and other technicians.                                   
  • Ability to respond to the dynamic equipment needs of the production line as required.
  • Ability to demonstrate safe work practices with electromechanical equipment.
  • Ability to analyze machinery failures and implement appropriate resolutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.        
  • Ability to work independent of routine supervision.
  • Ability to interpret and implement non-complicated instructions, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to conduct basic arithmetic calculations.

Education, Qualifications and Work Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Greater than 10 years extrusion experience
  • Has consistently strong performance in current position. No disciplinary letters during the past 12 months.
  • Demonstrate strong capability of running extrusion consistently
  • Ability to communicate with engineers and train other technicians on the extrusion equipment
