Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Develop and/or edit technical materials that instruct clinicians and patients in the safe and proper use of products


MAJOR DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the creation and revision of medical device labeling
  • Write, re-write and edit instructions for use (IFUs) such as patient manuals and operators manuals
  • Interface cross-functionally within the product development team to acquire source material for documents and to develop understanding of the products
  • Coordinate the preparation of technical illustrations by coordinating the layout and design with graphic designers
  • Manage the project records during development
  • Apply corporate and regulatory documentation requirements
  • Create and maintain technical communication project schedules, driving milestones to completion
  • Coordinate the review and approval of technical documents in an enterprise configuration management system
  • Identify and apply appropriate technologies to meet technical communications and business goals
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA or BS in English, Technical Writing, Communications or related field
  • 8 year’s technical writing experience

PREFERRED/DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of software technologies used for writing, publishing, and document control
  • Experience creating medical device instructions for use
  • Experience working with content management systems as related to the module reuse of content
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent people and communication skills
  • Experience working with engineering departments
  • Experience working with labeling translations, including authoring content for translatability
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the code of federal regulations governing medical device labeling
  • Experience working in a regulated industry
  • Ability to work independently

  • Fast-paced office environment requiring significant use of computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
