Job Description

As the Team Lead Master Data Management you will perform operational activities related to Master Data  for the European Finance Team as well as have supervisor responsibilities as required to support the needs of the business.


This role is part of the European Financial Shared Services and your report to the Manager Accounting to Reporting.

  • Provides leadership to the Master Data team (5 direct reports) for transactional processes:
  • Support European functions, creating and maintaining item and or vendor data into Oracle ERP (SAP), GIM and other systems if required,
  • Ensure Master Data request responsiveness, respecting SLA time frames and documenting request , changes and  updates through a defined Helpdesk tool
  • Creation of Functional specification and user manuals
  • Item data audit, performing agreed correction actions
  • Coordinates monthly reporting on the process/KPI’s
  • Takes on all people management related items, such as:
  • Clearly communicating roles and responsibilities
  • Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
  • Provides training to new and existing staff as needed
  • Makes self available as coach / mentor in assisting direct reports to develop in their positions
  • Monitors and analyses department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • As required, become involved in relevant personnel matters including recruitment, termination and counseling
  • Managing the changes involved to the MDM processes and team, resulting from the extensive investment the organisation is about to commence on in updating the IT landscape with the introduction of SAP across the European businesses,
  • Contributing to the ongoing development (continues improvement) of the Master Data department
  • Gains a thorough understanding of the SOX Act and Stryker’s internal control policies, and performs all documentation and reconciliation requirements in line with those policies

What we are looking for:

  • Experience of working in a multinational company
  • Bachelor or Master degree in a relevant area
  • Minimum of 3 years of managerial experience in a Master Data Team Lead / Manager or equivalent position building into good understanding of main business processes in general and Item Master Data structures and elements specifically.  
  • At least 3 years in daily working with ERP systems, building into good understanding of main business processes in general and Item Master Data structures and elements specifically.
  • Familiar with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and Oracle (and SAP)
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to establish and communicate priorities
  • Ability to organize resources to achieve objectives
  • High level of honesty, integrity, commitment and responsibility
  • Ability to manage and motivate
  • Accustomed to working under pressure and with deadlines
