The Tax Accountant acts as our principal in-house tax specialist and business advisor for all Stryker’s operations across the Australia and New Zealand region.

This position exists in order to ensure the accuracy, reliability and integrity of the company’s tax compliance. You will contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of an effective process to ensure compliance with Australian tax legislation and Stryker policies and procedures.

Key areas of accountability:
  • Preparation of the Stryker Australia and Stryker New Zealand Tax returns
  • Preparation of the Stryker Australia and Stryker New Zealand FBT return
  • Review of GST/BAS submissions
  • Preparation of International Dealings Schedule
  • Preparation of the reportable benefits for payroll
  • Coordinating and managing the Transfer pricing documentation compilation with Corporate and EY (including managing source P&L’s)
  • Reporting of transfer pricing adjustments to Australian Customs
  • Manage tax audits (if applicable for that tax year)
  • Review tax provisions calculations and payments
  • Compilation of tax notes for statuary financial statements, and group reporting obligations
  • Work closely with accounting team to manage tax asset registers
  • Roll forward obsolete inventory provision for tax return
  • Other ad hoc tax projects / planning if required
  • Coordination with third party tax agents
  • Develop new and efficient tax processes/procedures and promote tax and its importance as a priority within the business
Skills and experience:
  • Technical Tax Legislation experience and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access Database, Powerpoint
  • Exceptionally high level of honesty, integrity, commitment and responsibility
  • Completed or nearly completed professional certification in accounting, CA or CPA
  • 4 years Corporate experience with exposure to financial reporting
  • Strong communication skills to manage internal and external clients
  • Aptitude and desire to master business systems and process
  • Accustomed to working under pressure and to deadlines with a focus on results
  • Ability to work relatively autonomously
