Job Description

This individual will be responsible for the success of the supply planning program, including Purchasing and Open Order Reporting. She/he will work with the Manager, Inventory to develop strategies to maximize current on-hand supply, as well as ensure timely ordering and receipt of products for distribution to customers in accordance with performance goals. The candidate must analyze trends, solve problems and provide day-to-day direction on priorities to deliver a best-in class customer experience. The successful applicant must build and shape a strong team and serve as a key member of the Operations Leadership Team while championing Stryker’s Mission and Values.

Responsibilities

Leadership/People Development:
  • Coach, develop and lead direct reports by providing growth opportunities
  • Build and maintain exceptional employee engagement throughout the department
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and bi-annually interim performance reviews
  • Conduct employee engagement sessions annually, and create and execute action plans based on these sessions
  • Responsible for departmental compliance with company policies and corrective actions
  • Responsible to live and exemplify Stryker’s Values: Integrity, Accountability, People, and Performance

Functional Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships/relationships with key suppliers. Actively participate in global/Division supply update meetings and advocate for Canadian business needs
  • Partner with Demand Planning and Marketing to establish and load optimal Freestock levels/Minimum order quantities in the ERP, to sustain best in class service levels while minimizing investments in excess inventory and freight expense
  • Establish and track KPIs to measure same-day fill rate and backorder root-cause, open order trends (revenue and quantity), and vendor performance (on-time delivery and defects)
  • Collaborate with Customer Service and other internal teams to ensure accurate ETAs are maintained in the ERP system
  • Proactively communicate supply issues and trends to commercial leadership and key stakeholders. Collaborate with these groups to identify and implement alternative supply plans as required. Raise supply escalations with IBP when necessary
  • Collaborate with Operations team leaders and SMEs to drive innovation and reduce waste in the supply chain
  • Lead change management and training initiatives, and work with the internal teams to implement changes. Ensure all processes are documented in accordance with Stryker Canada quality standards
Other Responsibilities
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and create a culture of continuous improvement
  • Prepare various reports on a monthly or as needed basis for the Commercial, Finance or Operations team
  • Execute both short-term and long-term process and technology improvement plans
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager

Job Requirements

Education & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Supply Chain Management or Finance is a strong asset)
  • Purchasing Designation (S.C.M.P) or APICS designation preferred
  • Internal applicants with an equivalent combination of education, experience and performance over time at Stryker will be considered
Knowledge & Skill Requirements
  • Minimum 4 years operations/supply chain experience, with at least 1 year of experience leading a team
  • Highly analytical and able to communicate story behind the data
  • Strong Leadership ability, with a talent for building teams and generating results
  • Highly service-oriented, with a continuous commitment to enhancing the customer experience
  • High-energy, high-urgency, with a passion for winning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to interact with and influence others to drive change across the department
  • Exposure to or have worked in an environment where Lean / Six Sigma principles were practiced
  • Highly computer literate, proficient in Excel and other MS Office applications – Oracle experience an asset
