Job Description

Reporting to Area Vice President, Sales and located in the region in which the Strategic Sales Manager, Special Products supports, this position is a specialized support role designed to strengthen and bolster unique product knowledge in the field through on-site support and education to Trauma & Extremities Sales Managers during first-time or sensitive cases and surgeries.  This role will provide field leadership and participate in closing key customers on the benefits of using Stryker Foot & Ankle products and provide the Sales Representative with product knowledge and sales techniques to confidently represent specialized Foot & Ankle products in their territory. The Strategic Sales Manager will act as a subject matter expert in F&A portfolio of specialized products.
 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Liaison with Marketing for product launches  
  • Cultivate relationships with targeted customers 
  • Collaborate with field collecting intel, data, and feedback, and communicate message to corporate and vice versa 
  • Provide ongoing education in field on critical product  
  • Work in conjunction with Area Field Marketing Managers to drive education strategy 
  • Support field sales reps through ride-alongs, one-on-one coaching/training, surgeon interaction events, and live procedures 
  • Act as Business Partner and Subject Matter Expert on portfolio of special Stryker products (STAR, LRF, etc)  
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements 
  • Act as the liaison between the business units, sales team, technology teams, and support teams 
  • Establish, manage and maintain strong, executive-level client relationships and position oneself as a trusted advisor to the client’s business 
  • Develop new business, grow existing business, and coordinate solutions while troubleshooting customer problems 
  • Generate and maximize the awareness of our products/services by providing education and information to potential and existing customers 
  • Report regulatory compliance and the principles of responsibility (AdvaMed) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization and adhering to applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations accreditation and licenser requirements, and company’s policies and procedures.
  • Work with Sales Education team to identify selling/product knowledge weaknesses and implement plans to close gaps 
  • Train physicians and hospital personnel, including OR staff, radiology and central sterile processing on the use of special products 
  • Work with training managers to develop sales training curriculum for foot and ankle division 
  • Provide strategic & technical product/sales support for regional managers 
  • Support the development and execution of the sales plan as well as grow the utilization of special products by increasing volume with current and potential surgeons 
  • Actively sell the clinical benefits of the products, and build strong, positive relationships with key surgeons and OR staff at targeted accounts 
  • Identify key accounts and develop strategic account plans to deliver differentiating messages and value for our products and services 
  • Manage relationships with new and existing customers to meet and exceed sales objectives within the territory 
  • Attend trade shows, surgeon dinners, skill courses, and educational meetings to provide support to local & regional managers & front line reps 
  • Partner with Sales Rep & Sales Leadership on VIP visits and present product Portfolio 
  • Work with product managers to identify areas of improvement and innovation for foot & ankle products 
  • Manage Strategic initiatives geared towards improving the effectiveness of the Strategic Sales team 
  • Occasional case coverage as required to support primary function

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required: business; pre-med or other relevant field of study
  • 7+ years successful medical device sales experience 
  • BA required business; pre-med or other relevant field of study 
  • Demonstrated expertise in relevant products, disease states, human anatomy and biomechanics 
  • Demonstrated experience with product responsibility and interfacing with surgeons 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer service principles and processes and highly adept at managing critical internal and external customer relationships  
  • Demonstrated skill in written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation  
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning, and critical thinking skills 
  • Demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Excel & Word)
