As a Staff Test Engineer you will be responsible for designing, evaluating and bringing new products to market for our Sports Medicine business.

What You Will Do:

  • Critically apply engineering design principles (software architecture) and identify areas of weakness and target those areas in your testing. 
  • Works closely with the development team by engaging early in the project phase to discover issues early on and reduce required design iterations.
  • Determine root cause(s) and provide solutions to optimize product design.
  • Calculate sample size and perform data analysis using statistically supported limits of operation, while bench-marking data and marketing claims independently.
  • Design and develop reusable test protocols of high complexity and quality, consider long term usability when designing the test cases.
  • Implement process improvements and also provide guidance to other engineers on design controls and test lab practices/procedures. 
  • You may develop significant changes to or generate DWIs and/or WIs independently. 
  • Be aware of and understand current and upcoming standard & regulatory changes in your area of expertise while proactively preparing tests and procedures in regards to coming changes. Spread this awareness to the business. 
  • Have a clinical understanding of the products and the environment to collaborate at the business unit level to ensure product interactions are clearly identified.
  • Drive test decisions for a program or system of products.  Determine the overall impact to programs/systems with regards to timeline, cost, and resources for test and prioritize projects based on business needs.  
  • Use knowledge of clinical and business risks to help determine defect prioritization.     
  • Successfully negotiate and strategically problem solve with cross-functional partners. Act as an ambassador for test across the business unit as high level technical documents may be used for influencing key decisions.
  • Be responsible for the testing on an entire project/product or system of products and lead the expansion of test coverage and advancement in your area of expertise.

What You Need:

  • At minimum, one of the following tools are required (experience with multiple tools is preferred) : JIRA, GIT (Using SourceTree), PTC Integrity, Visual Studio, Agile (Doc Control), VectorCast, Perforce, Any Automated UI Test Software.
  • Unit Testing experience with at least one of the following: C# / WPF, C++, Python, LabView.
  • Bachelors and/or Master degree in EE, Biomedical Engineering or related curriculum is required.
  • 4+ years of test experience in software industry (medical industry highly preferred).
  • Ability to work independently to plan and schedule your activities to meet project timelines.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure project success.
  • Collaboration expertise with peers to leverage and share engineering best practices.
  • Demonstrated depth of understanding in the fundamentals of Software test discipline.
